What's a good tumbler for brass shell casings ???

Looking to do 50 - 100 at a time

I use a Lyman turbo. Can’t remember the model size? But plenty big enough to do what you’re descending. I’ll do 150-250, 22-250 cases @ once. Never a problem. Change your grit when it gets dirty. You’ll know when, because it will take much longer to clean them up.

Do you have a preference of wet tumbling vs dry tumbling?

I personally do both.

I use a harbor freight wet tumbler with stainless pins which would meet your needs. Depending on what casings your tumbling you may end up end up closer to 50 at a time then 100 for bigger calibers.

The nice part about the wet tumbling is I bought a universal depriming die and knock the primer out before wet tumbling and the primer holes are cleaner than if you dry tumble. There is also less dust and dirt with wet tumbling but you have to dry them when your done.

My dry tumbler is a frankford arsenal and I have used both Lyman corn cobb media and also lizard pet bedding which is walnut husks for tumbling. Walnut took the carbon off the casing but didn’t make it nearly as shiney and clean as the corn Cobb media or my wet tumbler.

i have a hornady m2. love it. i bet the lyman or frankford arsenal and rcbs are fine too

I tried both and the vibratory cleaning works best for me.
I want clean cases. Not interested in a "Bright Shine".
Wet tumbling is more time consuming with the extra steps involved.

The media I use is ground walnut hull pet bedding with a CAP full of Nu-Finish car polish added. Throw in a dryer sheet if you want to cut down on some of the dust.

I have a Lyman also and like someone said, I bet their all ok.

Found out the hard way to ALWAYS have the old primers still in the pockets. If you don't, you will spend a lot of time digging the medium out of those primer pockets. Also, don't do cases that will fit inside other cases and "nest" inside the other cases. I use a Lyman, with crushed walnut shells, and been happy with the results.

I actually sell once fired brass. I have the large abd the small STM wet tumblers and 8 Frankford Arsenal wet tumblers. The Frankfords work great. The STM's do too but more pricey. My partner and I do it as a hobby but we do thousands of rounds of rifle and pistol brass each month. I will never dry tumble brass again. I like the fact that there is no carbon inside the brass which by the way makes for inconsistent loads and I never have to touch a primer pocket. Another reason I like the Frankford is it has a timer. We dry all our brass on Wally World food dehydrators that I put timers on. I shoot and hunt at long distances with barn burners so I like everything as close to perfect as possible and consistent. We deprime and size everything on a Dillon 650 and a Dillon 1050 with auto bot. I just watch Midway, Midsouth and Natchez till they run the Frankfords on sale. Usually can pick them up for around $80.

When they say dryer sheets. Use a USED dryer sheet. A new one will leave residue on the cases which will make powder stick to the inside of the neck and is a pia loading with fine powders. I actually just use paper towels torn into strips. Works just as well collecting carbon and no residue. They will help keep your tumbing media cleaner and your brass cleaner in the end.

I start with a Hornady tumbler then resize and de-prime the cases before putting them in the Horady Sonic cleaner to take care of the primer pockets.
