This is at the opening of the harbour where the fur trade & search for the abundance of North American wealth of fish began. Louisbourg Harbour, and yes it is the North Atlantic for sure on a fairly calm day in the fall.
For some reason, they call this Wild Cove but wilder ones are just up the coast from here.

Is the Atlantic salmon fishing still good? In the 70's I taught fly fishing in New York and met a legendary fly fisherman who fished around Cape Breton for years. I want to say the river was the Miramichi.
Our salmon fishing here is getting tougher, just curious about yours.

11 million seals of our Atlantic Coast. Not likely to see the fishing get better here either. You might have been talking to Ted Williams or Lee Wolf swift4me. Both fished Cape Breton Rivers and Ted Williams was a stork on New Brunswick's Miramichi.

Great photos.
Actually I was working for Joan and Lee Wulff at the time, but got to know Harry and Elsie Darbee who fished there for many years too. I never met Ted Williams but I did teach one of his ex-wives to cast.

While our Liberal socialists were inviting folks that had no intention of leaving the US in order to pay Canadian taxes I was begging border services to keep them out. We don't need that kind of hate here.

Where the fur trade & fisheries of Noth America began. This spot was known as the Gate Way to North America since it was the Fort that controlled the entrance to the St. Lawrence & thus the Great Lakes of this Continent and the root start of our fur trade heritage. https://www.novascotia.com/see-do/attractions/fortress-of-louisbourg-national-historic-site/1583 As you scroll throgh the pictures imagine how tough these folks were in the dead of winter when viewing the accompanying video .

On this Dec 25th day there were two guys out on that river with personal watercraft and Santa Clause outfits on. They spent a couple of hours flying up and down the River. I figure they were doing so with Captain Morgan, Seven Seas Rum & a touch of Anne Bonny for good measure. wink

Beautiful sight … both winter and summer, but I will just look at the winter from here in Ohio … I think I can just about see the top of your snow from here.

Some High water marks. The first one showing through the rain covered window shows the low field & road under water. This happened in a Northern Typhoon which lasted less than 30 minutes but caused flooding that had homes & even churches go under water.
