American made corn gluten pellets delivered at an American dairy. We got done the farmer asked if Id like to come in for some peach cobbler and a glass of milk. How do you say no to that? It was definitely break time. I bet nowhere in the world can a guy get a better snack than raw milk and homemade cobbler.

My boss posted a picture on Fb of some nameless goober
working on a transformer on a 4000 amp service over this last weekend...
Put in 16 hours finishing it up Sunday. I'm still limping around trying to recover.
I'd post it here but it won't let me swipe the photo.

My machines on a deck after a rain blew in on the unfinished floor.
I poured a lot of concrete back in my younger days. Ten and twelve thousand square foot pours. Two hundred yards at a crack. Backbreaking work but I was in the best shape of my life.
We had a job super tell us to pour when the boss didn't want to. There were clouds on the horizon. We poured. The skies opened up and leaked through the roof system. We were out there throwing Portland cement on the floor trying to work up some sort of finish. What a mess.

Re: American Worker and American pride thread - 03/22/19 11:05 AM
I've been working on this house off and on for the last seven years. It is a vacation island home. The owner has me go there every year between mid-February and May. After May he and his family start using it. It is out of state and a two-hour drive so I stay there during the week while working.
From the top down: I've put a new roof on it. I've installed the attic gable windows. I rebuilt the upper deck and installed a new railing. I converted four bedroom windows into doors so there would be access to the upper deck from all bedrooms. I blew insulation into the balloon-framed studs then resided the entire house. I've remodeled the kitchen. I've put a new hardwood floor in the dining room and done many more smaller jobs over the years.
The Antique Boat Club used this house as a backdrop for their 2015 calendar cover.

Thanks and you are correct, remodeling is more involved than new construction. Especially old places like the lake house. It was built in the 1890's and was used as a yacht club for decades. It was only accessible by boat until a long footbridge was built from the mainland about fifty years ago. Nowhere on that house is there anything that is plumb, square or level.
The kitchen remodel presented challenges but we got it done.

i'm self employed and don't have to look for work as my phone seems to be ringin a lot lately.3 offers from flagstone quarries in the last 2 weeks and all 3 said they have orders coming out their ears.

I remember saying the pledge every day at the start of school. They don't do that any more do they?
I taught school for sixteen years and every class said the pledge every single school. Also had daily prayer at the flagpole, regardless of weather.
