Steve Hillenberg created the cartoon Sponge Bob Square Pants, The story of a yellow sea sponge who lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the Pacific ocean with his pet snail Gary. Hillenberg got his inspiration for the idea while working as a marine science educator.
