Are our national guard carrying weapons without ammo?

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/21/19 10:59 PM

This another very good reason for having a border wall with Mexico. We can't allow Mexican soldiers to create diversions on our side of the border, to allow drugs to be brought into the US. We also can't allow univited, heavily armed, Mexican soldiers in the US at all.

Hang on a minute here. So after Katrina those guys went house to house collecting arms of the people here . But when a couple of Mexican military thugs show up, they give up and hand theirs over ??? It must be the French national guard. Is a white flag standard issue ??

I bet they were outnumbered and flanked.....

Next time toss them Federalizes back over the line in worse condition then when they crossed over here!

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/21/19 11:54 PM

My GUESS is the same as Marty's. Too many and flanked. Were only two of them. Im trying to figure out where the rest of the guard unit were and why the Mexicans were allowed to return to Mexico.

I still wonder if they are allowed ammo.

There's a militia here and they helped detain some illegals (over 100 in a group) until boarder patrol could come. Ther leader was arrested. 2 counties here have declared state of emergency and are pleaing with ther governor to send troops for help. She won't. One country is thinking of suing the state. Several checkpoints have been closed in order to help with the crisis yet the governor senators and congressmen say there's no problem.

If the issues at the border were taken seriously , they would have been returned to mexico in body bags .

If the boarder issues were taken seriously this current situation would've never happened

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 01:57 AM

its been an open border for decades, people come and go as they please...getting caught only means they get deported and have to wait and cross the next day.

The dems know that these illegals helped them get elected and that 2020 will be close so they want as many as possible to be here....if they have their way they will place them in key states to sway the electoral college their way, they have been doing that for years and its one of the reasons Trump wants to send the amnesty seekers to sanctuary cities where their votes will not alter anything.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 08:59 AM

Adam it is not uncommon for them to carry weapons and no ammo or no loaded mags in the weapon.

Something stinks. The federales should be in a U.S. jail right now. Or dead.

Wow, that's nuts. What's the point of carrying with no ammo or unloaded?
I agree the federales should be dead or in jail.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 01:49 PM

I just read several accounts from different sources( Washington Examiner and Briebert) and neither mentions anything about a diversion so the cartel could smuggle drugs as Fox News claimed. The NG members were on the south side of the border fence but still on US soil. The NG soldiers were conducting border support operation in an unmarked vehicle. After us soldiers explained they were on US ground they were released.

Even Barnny Fife was allowed one bullet! Boss gives me a weapon with no ammo, I’ll toss and shoulder a broom! We are living in a bazzoro world.

Did the Mexicans explain why they were there

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 03:27 PM

The way I understand it:

They were in a dhs/border patrol unmarked vehicle. Left the vehicle to approach and were asked to put their weapons back in the vehicle. They complied and after a discussion the Mexicans went back to mexico.

Do you consider a vehicle just wearing gov plates unmarked ? If so , include the entire military in that list.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 03:48 PM

I say send the Regular Army to the border with tons of ammo and orders that NO ONE come across. Not saying kill anyone just make sure no one comes across.

Here is a link to why the military doesn't carry weapons on the southern border, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...noredirect=on&utm_term=.87a267baf1c0

The Marines killed an 18 year old American citizen when they shot him in the back.

The US military is deployed to 150 something countries around the world but we can't defend our own border?

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 04:17 PM

Sure a lot of people getting their panties in a wad over nothing. Same people that complain that the Mexican government does nothing to stop the flow are now complaining about Mexican troops on the border. The guardsmen did the right thing, Mexico is an ally, you don't get into a firefight with your allies over something this trivial. No harm, no foul.

The problem is you don't know if the Mexican troops are working with the government or the cartel ?

Most people who say we don't need a wall aren't subject to the immediate consequences of not having one. Odds are, they'll be dead and gone or out of office before the effects are irreversible.

All good comments. Here's what I don't get, if a fence or wall doesn't work, why do insurance companies require one around swimming pools if you own one?

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 07:14 PM

Cedar Thanks for the link. It doesn't say anything about being shot in the back but rather......The encounter that followed would leave Hernandez, an American citizen, shot in the chest by a Marine corporal. He bled to death, receiving no medical aid. Military officials said the Marine team shot the teenager after he twice fired his rifle in their direction and was raising his gun for a third time, according to Washington Post coverageat the time. Relatives of Hernandez, along with the Texas Rangers who investigated the case, doubted that the teenager ever saw the hidden Marines.

Our soldiers should be locked and loaded cartels are crazy. The cartels have a lot of mexican military and police in their pockets.

I've talked to people that have worked close to the border on pipelines, standing order was to cut the leads and and leave if a group of people was seen approaching.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 09:16 PM

So if a fence is a wall, the Mexicans were on the right side of the wall and the NG wasn't? Guess we need a double-wall.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/22/19 09:16 PM

Adam, I was just trying to point out why our troops on the border are not armed.

I am one of those that is opposed to a wall on the whole length of the river.
I would rather see law enforcement or armed troops on the border with the order to shoot if the illegals don't turn back.
If the laws that are on the books were enforced on this side of the river all these people would not be pouring across our southern border.

An illegal detention center near me closed in June of 2017. It housed 1550 illegals that were serving time for illegal entry and then deported after serving that time. It was planned to be closed by #44 and #45 would not rescind the order and keep it open. Why ???

The man that was arrested by the FBI in Sunland Park for detaining illegals has been operating in New Mexico for two years. Why arrest him now ???

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/24/19 05:04 AM

I understand Cedar and agree.

I think why they arrested him now is because it's national attention and they have been helping CBP and have guns.

The democrats do not want the border defended against people who will vote for democrats, giving them control of the US Government.

The Mexicans did not take their guns and I imagine they most likely only had sidearms.... smile

Bad situation any way you look at it but they were not killed and the Mexicans went back south soon after. Hopefully they cover this with new sop orders and better preparedness.

Re: mexican troops cross the border - 04/25/19 01:30 AM

In all my years in service , with the exception of training, never did I ever carry weapon without at least a magazine in . Sidearms were worn with a magazine in and one in the chamber . Normally , I carried both . Crew served weapons and 203s being a little different .

I can recall being around other services who had very different carry regs. Recall being stopped by a well-meaning Army Captain who let me know my M9 was on "fire". He was surprised to know that was our prescribed method of carry.

So , who knows...

According to the article below they were on US side and allowed the disarmament in order to avoid a volatile situation. The POTUS is not happy

Nothing as far as i am concerned. If they aid in the apprehension of 10,20,50 or a 100 a day,...kudos to them! We need many more groups like them.

The left and media doesn't like the idea of people helping protect the border especially with guns. The leader is felon and had guns. The left seized the opportunity and FBI came into action
