I am not certain yet if I can make it or not .It is about 3hour trip one way for me and I would be driving there in the morning and returning the same day .I would probably be there Fri Maybe I will catch up to you and thank you for the knife donation I purchased on the Trapperman Defense auction recently

I plan to be there on Friday, we have rented a cabin not too far away with my son and his family. Plan to spend the day or part of one at Endless Caverns as that was owned by family years ago. Anyone got any other suggestions for family activities in the area ?

There's quite a broad range of things to do around Harrisonburg. You can go to the visitors center in downtown Harrisonburg and tell them what your family's interests are. Harrisonburg has 3 Wal-Marts and a Costco. I don't like either store but if you need something, you can go there.

Bob, thanks for the invite! I'm not sure how much stuff I'll have ready for the Fur Takers, and then to attend another right after! Plus the national is just a month later! If things come together, it may work. I'll have to see when it gets closer. Would love to stop by and visit! I'll be in touch.

Re: FTA convention 2019 - 06/13/19 11:04 AM

We have had a great team working on this show Brian has been our boots on the ground guy and has worked his but off on this show. There is some vendors that take cards but some don't and if you are looking for used traps have cash. We have tailgaters from all over the east coast so there's gonna be some used traps for sale. For everyone that hasn't been to a Fur Takers show get ready for a overload on trapping information when this thing is over we want people to say I couldn't see it all.

The auction is listed 2 threads below this one. Smaller items are auctioned the same time as the adventure items.

Re: FTA convention 2019 - 06/19/19 11:55 AM

My opinion, the auction should be held on Saturday. Years ago the VTA always had the auction or Saturday of their convention.

Saturday is always the biggest day of a convention. More people, more money and more, higher bidding. Just looking at it from the standpoint of the FTA and the VTA, the donated items are going to sell higher, the more people that you have interested in buying.

Think about it like this: Selling a donated item is just about as close to free money as it gets. And there are going to be a lot of people there Saturday with a pocket full of money.

What we really need is a "universal" auction time, for all conventions. Something like high-noon Saturday, or 1pm.

You guys that are officers and directors of the different trap associations will agree, the convention auction is one of your biggest fundraisers.

I'll be there Saturday.

Re: FTA convention 2019 - 06/19/19 01:38 PM

I don’t totally disagree with you but..... Although Saturdays generally have the largest attendance. I believe most of the trappers and vendors want to get packed up Saturday afternoon or evening and head for home. Leaving fewer people with interest in staying for the auction. Just my thoughts.

Great time. Lots of good seminars. Got to meet a bunch of cool people.

Re: FTA convention 2019 - 06/23/19 06:41 PM

My first time attending the event and although I could only stay for 2 hours I really enjoyed it. I met some great people and wish I could have stayed longer. I got to speak with Tom Miranda for a while and I was really impressed with what a good guy he is. I met Jeff Dunlap and was really impressed with him too. Plenty to do and see and I look for to going again some day.
