bird feeder visiter - 05/03/19 01:31 AM

Just sitting down to eat tonight and this appeared. Scarlet tanager. Supposedly widespread in the eastern US, but this is the first I've seen in a long time. It wouldn't move to the side closest to the window for a full picture.

Eyehi, they sure are bright. Right after that we had 4 rose breasted gross beaks show up. Big evening at the bird feeder.

My wife and I saw a Tanger about 5 years ago and they are so beautiful. It now has me doing a double take every time there is a cardinal on the feeder. We have 4 feeders in the yard and have keep track this year of the different kinds of birds we've seen and when they show up and we are at about 30 different kinds but no Tanger this year.

We had a pair of tanagers make their way down the creek and trees for a couple of years. Haven't seen them for a while. Their colors are stunning!
I noticed they stay high in the trees.

Had a few stop by every year just for a couple days and gone...Haven’t seen one at the house for two years but did see a pair while turkey hunting last year...

Indigo Bunting I haven’t seen in years...

Did have a few Cowbirds stop by for a visit earlier this spring..First time I’ve had them stop by.

Much brighter than Cardinals. I've only seen Scarlets around here a handful of times.
