I've sprayed log oil through mine. I don't know if it is a similar viscosity or not but it had no problem handling it.

Thanks everyone. The 5 gallon bucket of it says single oil right on top of container. I never have heard of the stuff but I looked it up and there is such a thing. We will try to use sprayer with the product. If I had to add a thinner what would you add to thin it down with?

Look and see if it's water based and if so it should be ok to use in sprayer. Most shindle oil is water based.

Thanks boys for those tips I will check that out. I do know they do have a larger metal hand sprayer. I have NO idea what the tip in rated for or what amount of pressure that can be generated but I guess we will find out. This is some volunteer work for some people that need help.
Thanks

Snowy I have one of the leftover red 3 gallon Hudson metal sprayers I'm referring to from past business. We used to spray heavy form oil, diamond clear, and I have even used it spraying used cooking oil at bear baits. ( gotta strain it for "stuff" first) They can be pumped up and spray pretty heavy material. They have different size tips.
Look,on the product can for clean up product, I think that product could be used to cut it.

What is the brand of the shingle oil? I googled it and everyone that says "shingle oil" is petroleum based so don't add water until you double check.

Most wood oils are thinned with a solvent like mineral spirits, turpentine, acetone etc.

These are the Cadillac of sprayers and all I use for my concrete jobs. The shingle oil warns of over application and wood shakes cupping etc. These sprayers give you a controllable spray pattern vs. the plastic sprayers unpredictable pattern and dripping.

Duckstick80 >>> I'm not sure what the label says but I would bet oil based 100% sure. I might pick up some thinner like you described and add some before starting to ensure it sprays.

Get mineral spirits, I did a job for a 82 year old retired construction superintendent and he used Tung oil cut with mineral spirits on cedar inside his porch that we remodeled. I saw it four years later and it still looked like the day he put it on. This was on interior wood though.

We have sprayed tons of it with regular garden sprayers, no issues whatsoever.

^ Outstanding news! Thanks this outfit has a few plastic sprayers and only one metal one so that would be great if the plastic ones work. Thanks
