Sharon - let me know what year you want to go. If I'm able to go, I will pick you up on my way through Montana and you can help with the driving.

Or maybe we should make the trip in September for the WTA state rondy, then you could see Patrice in action as she runs the Tman feed on Friday evening. smile

Ah yes, wishful thinking..........

Sense of humor is about the best thing you can bring to this shindig, although a fat wallet may be of more benefit to D9.

We have a great venue, rain or shine, and the black sheep are the best.

Re: OUR JUNE 1ST RENDEZVOUS - UPDATE! - 05/30/19 12:20 PM

UPDATE - Bridge Out - Road Closed Near Reedsburg - DIRECTIONS

[Linked Image]

You may need to look at a clearer map than this, but hopefully this will help. For all of you coming from the south to our rendezvous …

Look at Hwy V coming out of the north end of Reedsburg. At the point where you see the name “Riverview Rd” on Hwy V – THE BRIDGE IS OUT and the road is closed where it crosses that creek.

There are two ways around it. The official detour will take you west on Main Street/Hwy 33 out of Reedsburg to the point where Hwy V comes back out on Hwy 33. You would then get on Hwy V and come in from the north to that first right turn which is Menchoff Rd and then turn right again on Luedtke Rd.

The shorter way around the bridge is to go a few blocks east on Main Street to Myrtle Street which is Hwy K. Go north right through town. You will drive between two cemeteries as you come out the north end of town. In about a half mile take the first left turn on Barbara Ann Drive and follow it to where it ends on Hwy V. (That cuts through a little subdivision and it’s what all the locals are doing.) Then turn right on Hwy V and continue north to Luedtke Rd to the rendezvous.

By the way, for those of you coming up on Hwy 23 from the south, that is S Albert Ave on the map.

Nothing will stop the black sheep!

I hope that’s helpful!

OUR RENDEZVOUS - LOTS of PHOTOS!!!!!!!! - 06/02/19 04:15 PM

We had a nice little rendezvous on Saturday. Here’s a bunch of photos. If my photos were half as nice as the people in them, I’d be thrilled.

Friday night we set up at the Reedsburg Outdoor Club. This is the hooped beaver and plaque we presented them with a couple years ago for being so generous to us and supporting our event. (Next to it is a board signed by legendary D9ers they won in an auction to hang on their wall!)
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Nute had some materials there for his trapper ed group. Some wise words there!
[Linked Image]

Getting set up for our WTA tables.
[Linked Image]

Volkers Trapping Supply getting their tables set up. Even though they live in Illinois, the Volkers are D9 members. We’re so happy to have Mike and Jeanine join us each year. We have a lot of fun!
[Linked Image]

Smokey’s Trapping Supply getting their tables set up. Smokey and Sheryl are a great asset to our little rendezvous and we love having them here!
[Linked Image]

Getting our Welcome stuff out. We have flags and glow sticks for every kid who comes by.
[Linked Image]

After everyone is set up on Friday, we have a little party and relax. Here’s Smokey and Sheryl, who shared all of these great snacks with us on Friday. The whole crew appreciated it. It’s hard to find nicer people than these!
[Linked Image]

We opened up on Saturday morning and visitors started arriving. Here's Mike Volkers talking with some folks. Mike did a nice coon trapping demo for us.
[Linked Image]

Jeanine Volkers is helping out some customers.
[Linked Image]

Early Saturday morning, Nute did a trappers ed field test-out for this group of guys. Afterwards, they stayed and spent the day with us. Nute is our county trapper ed coordinator, our D9 treasurer, and helps set up and run our rendezvous and every other event we have. Thanks, Denny!
[Linked Image]

Nute spent time with each kid and tested them on their track knowledge. He has a set of molded foot imprints that go with photos of furbearers, and he has the kid set each foot on the photo it matches. If they get all of them right (with a little coaching from Nute), they win a 110 trap. Those kids' eyes would light up – and so did their parents! Nice job, Denny!
[Linked Image]

In the background, you can see Scott from the Village Gunsmith in Kendall, WI in the black shirt next to their sign. This was their first year at our rendezvous and we loved having them there. What nice people to meet and do business with! (Yes, I had to buy a new fun gun!) Thanks for joining us!
[Linked Image]

Here’s Tommy, who helps out at every one of our events. You might recognize him as part of the TMan Labor Camp. Tommy took in some memberships and gave out information to folks. Thanks, Tommy!

Re: OUR RENDEZVOUS - LOTS of PHOTOS!!!!!!!! - 06/02/19 04:17 PM

We had a few tailgaters outside. Aside from a couple of short-lived bursts of rain, we ended up with a mostly dry and nice day for them.
[Linked Image]

Here’s WTA Hall of Fame member Dan Carroll, who helps us out every year. Dan did a couple of great demos, and a muskrat and beaver tasting that went over famously! Thanks, Dan!
[Linked Image]

Great to see a bunch of future trappers having fun and learning stuff. This kid was having a lot of fun on Saturday.
[Linked Image]

Smokey did a great demo on winter canines.
[Linked Image]

Sheryl is inside helping customers.
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

These kids had a trap shoot and birthday party at the Outdoor Club, and then joined us for the rest of the day. Each one of them had fun getting tested by Nute and winning a trap and they all tried Dan's muskrat and beaver samples and liked them!
[Linked Image]

Dan did a wonderful demo on cable restraints, and wasn’t even distracted by predators creeping up behind him. He did another demo on muskrat trapping later on.
[Linked Image]

Lots of fine people joined us. Here’s another shot of the grounds.
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

We were happy to be joined in the afternoon by our warden, Mike Williams, who visited with trappers and answered questions. What a great guy! It was really nice to visit with him. He’s a local, a trapper, and may even become an honorary member of the Black Sheep! Thanks, Mike!
[Linked Image]

Alex Hanrahan from the DNR did a nice demo on bobcat trapping and stuck around with us for the day. Great information!
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

The questions followed Alex back to his truck where he was nice enough to answer them all!
[Linked Image]

Here is Howard, my buddy who helps me set up on Friday every year. On Saturday, Howard carries my clicker and counts the people at our rendezvous. (We had a total of 121 people on the clicker this year.) All of you who go to our conventions in Marshfield have seen Howard, who has been there helping at every event for years. We love you, Howard!
[Linked Image]

I wish I had decent photos of all of the Black Sheep who make up our team. Wayne, Roger and Mat help out through every event, manning tables and selling raffle tickets. Thank you! My Zim coordinates the demo area and brings me flowers! XXXOOO! And I have to thank Black and Tan for helping me out all day long with our card raffle this year. Because of Jason, I had time to say hello to people and take these photos. Thanks so much to all of you! D9 rules!!!

Finally, I want to thank the Reedsburg Outdoor Club for everything they do for us! (Next time, I’ll get a photo of you guys in here too.) This is one fine place full of fine people who provide a beautiful venue for our event and help make it a success. They also offer great food and beverages to all of our hungry trappers and a lot of smiles in the process. Thanks so much, guys! We’ll be back!

Again, thank you to everyone!

Looks like you had a good turn out.
Graduation and family had to come first. What a pain had to stand in line outside for about a hour before they would open the doors to the school. No more graduations for a while.

See you next year.

Sorry Redsnow! I posted at the same moment when you did and didn't see your question. I looked on the WTA website but don't see any of those shirts with the tracks. They must be from a different year.

Ok, I noticed that too. I checked their website, looks like T shirts are only $12. That's cheap. I should have time tomorrow to order 1. Thanks.

Re: OUR LOCAL RENDEZVOUS IS JUNE 1ST! - 06/03/19 10:08 PM

Boy does District 9 know how to have a great event. I am going to have to stop down one of these years to check out the festivities and visit with the black sheep!

Patrice, you send any these pictures over to Skye so she can post on the FB page? I know she is always looking for things to post on the WTA page and no better way to brag up a great district than those pictures!

Re: OUR LOCAL RENDEZVOUS IS JUNE 1ST! - 06/03/19 11:52 PM

Yes Sir we had a great event and I can not say enough about the folks that make it go around.
I suppose it is the same in many organizations but in D9 we always have the same core group of people
who take time from their busy lives and give it for the cause.
Thank you guys, you know who you are and together we make it happen.
Thank you also to the folks at the Reedsburg Outdoor Club, without your continuous support it would be difficult to
put together a fun and informative event like this.
Thank you to all our vendors, Volkers, Smokey, and The Village Gunsmith for making the drive and taking the time for us.
Thank you to all who put on the fantastic demo's, that make the whole thing go around and promotes our activities.
Thanks redsnow for becoming an honorary member of the Black Sheep.

A final thanks to my wife Patrice who by sheer will, determination, planning and plain old hard work has put the
"Black Sheep" back in the game.

Good evening everyone, Zim and Patrice, thank you for having me as a Black Sheep. I'll wear my shirt with pride.

I did mail off my dues to the Wisconsin Trappers association today. Looks like you guys are doing some good stuff, good to see the kids involved. If nothing else, the WTA has one more member, we're all on the same page and think the same way. Hopefully, one of these days we'll meet in person.

Thanks again, Tim

Re: OUR LOCAL RENDEZVOUS IS JUNE 1ST! - 06/05/19 01:05 AM

Thank you Tim, been good talking with you.
In regards to the Amish as being poachers......I have known a few Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists, Baptists, Atheists, Jesuits, Muslims, Jews, Democrats,
Republicans, Yankees, Rebs and other misfits who have not exactly abided by the law.
These folks came to test out on their Trapper's Ed training and enjoy our outing. They bought supplies, attended demo's to learn about trapping and I found them
interesting to talk with and try to understand their culture.
You got issues crying4, keep them in Indiana.
