Ford 1720 tractor

Looking at possibly purchasing a used 1994 Ford 1720 4WD tractor with a cab and snowblower attachement for the back. Anyone familiar with this particular tractor? Looks to be in very nice shape with just over 2000 hours on it, also has a loader bucket. I Currently use a truck and a plow for snow removal at my farm, but after last winters brutal snowfall, I've been thinking about switching over to something where I don't need to plow the whole yard in preparation for a winter with lots of snow. This tractor has a cab on it with remote control for the snowblower shoot, asking price is 10k, sound fair or too much?

Price is in line with most dealer asking prices. Actually 4wd and cab would add to price. It won’t handle huge amounts of snow at once, but if you take it bite at a time it’ll be fine.

Its not very big. Don't expect too much out of a under 30 hp tractor.. If I was you and really wanted to move snow and needed to - I would look for more ponies.....not too many guys I know say - I wish I had less power......I feel like your truck and plow has more capability to move snow quicker.

I own a 1715 a little earlier model than a1720 basics are the same i love it don't have a snowblower but a loader and backblade like anything else it has limitations with the loader the tractor thinks its a big tractor you have to think otherwise

For not much more you can get a decent skid loader, something to consider depending on your needs.

That is a good tractor. Did not know it was available with a cab. Work within its limitations and u will do fine. I have a New Holland 1520 4wd with a loader that I love. It has 35hp. I bought it a couple years ago from an estate with 22 hours.

Ford and New Holland tractors are the best. Henry’s tractors saved many people from starvation. The whole English country during and after WW1.

This was my first thought. The baby Ford I used in construction was an older model, so maybe not the same results,, but small tractors seem to be as slow as doing it by hand (not that slow of course, but ..) every bite is small and it takes a lot of small bites to add up. Same whether Ford JD or Kubota; they work if you have a small job or lots of time.

I have a 2120 and really like the tractor. It is about 40 horse and use it year around. Moving snow in the winter, brush mowing and hay raking in the summer. I think the one you are looking at would be a nice utility style tractor for the smaller jobs. 10K with that amount of hrs sound about what they should bring if it is in real good shape.

I have 2 JD 4020s and really like them. I have never felt like they were too big. If I wanted to move snow, I would but I just drive over it.......10k would get near one of those as well. If I lived north and had to move snow I would want no less than a 60hp tractor. Just me

If it's a hydra-static, I would be looking at parts availability. Been told parts are hard to come by if something breaks.

Thanks for all the info guys, I decided I'm going to hold off on purchasing it. Although it looked like a decent tractor in good shape, I think I may continue using plow truck for now. I do have an older Deutz tractor that is actually much bigger than the one I was looking at, but use it primarily for moving round bales with a front and back spear. I might consider looking for a blower attachment for the back of this one and just have it for back up snow removal for when the snowbanks get too much for the plow truck. We have some pretty brutal winter in upper Michigan and broke some records this past year, so just preparing for the next brutal year.

My dad bought a 1520 back in 1989 with 60" mower deck and a bagger unit. Think he paid around $10k for it since his payment was around $210/mo for 48 mos.0% interest. My brother is still using it and it only has about 900 hrs on it. Runs great never a problem.
