Live NAFA auction

Live NAFA auction - 05/30/19 06:40 PM

Any one listening to the auction live? I know most of you don't care about wolves but that is the first item up. They have been selling for 2.5 hours and are about half way through the wolves. Could be a long day for the buyers.

The first couple of pages were mostly back bought, which might be due to high shipper limits. Once they got past the first 2 pages, things seem to be moving well, with competition on most every lot.

If only they have that kind of interest in coon. Lol I'll be watching tomorrow and seeing how disappointing my coon end up.

For the life of me I don't know why they don't sell ermine in smaller lots? The only ones that sold reasonable were smalls in smaller lots. The small II- sdg sold (259 total) sold for more than the XL-LG sdg ( 1565 total) The smalls, good ones, (430 total) actually sold for a reasonable price at $3 a piece. Top Lot. crazy

Re: Live NAFA auction - 05/30/19 11:59 PM

Because they don't want to sit there selling 250 skins at a time. Same thing with other species. On the beaver in the smaller sizes, they would have much more buyer interest if they were offered 50 at a time instead of 250 at a time. That is one of the reasons some small buyers have switched over to FHA - smaller lot size.

On the other hand, there is one buyer that will buy 15,000 to 20,000 ermine at one sale. IF he needs them and IF the price is right. Unfortunately, he doesn't always need ermine at every sale.

Good then they can keep storing them and wasting their time not selling them every auction. Have some big lots and some smaller lots. No interest in either, skip the rest of the same and move on.

When 2poor was running the weasel thread and a lot of weasels were sent into the contest. They actually set up one lot with 200, and all the good ones from 2-poors helpers were put in that one.
Well the stars did not line up and the next 1000 went for the same price..........There was a lot of Minnesota kids wearing Top lot NAFA hats that summer because of Cory's getting those Threads going but bundles got certificates

All they need is ONE SHOW that has wardrobes with ermine skins being made to get things going.

Or another Federal Judge saying that a " whale harvest " has to be in Ceremonial dress, will there be a 3-4'000 skins needed

Actually they almost all sold. All the buy backs were dealer lots that had high limits.

Re: Live NAFA auction - 05/31/19 02:22 PM

My guess is you had very few coon to sell to arrive at a $20 average.

Coonman220 will be able to sleep now LOL.

Re: Live NAFA auction - 05/31/19 02:44 PM

I had one coon and I had a $28.00 average.

Looks like a lot of dealers decided to let their coon go.

Re: Live NAFA auction - 05/31/19 03:55 PM

My 2xl-3xl 1* rats were valued at $6 and sold for $5.50 I had one coon that sold for $17.50. It was a 3xl 1* 1-2 color. To me that is a decent coon but it can't crack $20 so there is a limited market for sure as of yet and probably for 2-3 years as all the back logged fur needs to clear as well.

As a ND coyote trapper I’m happy. Poorest grades I’ve ever had but the best average I’ve ever had.
