Heavy Duty Double Stake Swivel - 06/03/19 01:08 AM

For those of you who like rebar, and the 360 degree swivel capability of the butterfly swivel over the chestnut ring, but loathe the stress fractures .

I make my own out 1/8" steel but If you don't have the means to do so that would work. I also have the holes made a bit bigger It just makes It easier to drive and pull the stakes.

Hey Beav,

Wished I were setup to fab up some 1/8 thick swivel bodies, I also like the bigger stake hole idea too.
Might try to enlarge mine a little.

I just clamp these up in the vise, and mig weld them....No problems with strength or durability so far.

Thanks upstateNY!...Butterly swivels are my favorite.

It was a great Idea. I have a friend that owns a major tool and die operation. If I need something made he makes them by the 100s.

That's the kind of friends to have!..I really wish someone could manufacture these to be more in line with what your having made.

It's a great design, just needs beefing up to coyote specs.

No doubt the Chestnut Ring from J.C.'s shop is the most durable, and surely more versatile.
Everything he makes is bomb-proof!

If J.C. ever builds a butterfly double-stake swivel I'll be the first in line, no doubt the design could be made into a
money maker for some enterprising fabricator, if the improvements needed are incorporated.

I like the chesnut ring also. I have the option to either single stake or double stake that way.

An end swivel on each end of three links of chain, and one on the center link with the trap chain hooked to it. It give you a double swivel where the trap hooks in and if you want you can single stake.

I don't have any problem single staking with a butter fly set up.
