I notice you didn't rip a gill on every fish, just the bigger ones...why ?

The chums were going to the dogs. I did miss a few smaller Kings though.

Do you let the net soak for an hour or two ? Any limits ?

We just drifted for about 20 minutes. we can set a net to soak overnight if we want.
Only limited to the open season days, and times.

Great vid as usual Jeff. Towards the beginning were the shacks along the river for drying fish?

Had a friend send me some smoked salmon and some canned salmon from Anchorage a few years back....grandmas recipe too !

What is the purpose of "ripping a gill" ?..does it bleed them out?

Thanks Guys. Yes those are fish camps.

And yes ripping the gill to bleed them . All the commercial salmon sold here are bled too.
