Well, tried a little experiment to see if it was really true. So, I sprayed a 3 x 3 section of Poison Ivy with 25 % DEET , to see if it would kill the Poison Ivy. Did that yesterday. Took a look at it a few minutes ago. That section of Poison IVY is flattened to the ground , brown and burned up. Looks like it had been hit with a Flame Thrower !
Anyone know if that stuff will kill down to the roots?

Kinda spendy for a weed killer, now if will clear up a dose of PI that quickly....

Regular OFF bug spray will kill grass dead!. Where I sit outside in the backyard and spray my lower legs the grass is dead in a circle around where my feet rest

I would guess the ethanol and isopropyl myristate in bug repellents are what kills plants, not the tiny amount of deet.
