Who all has had a vehicle stolen? - 08/16/19 12:03 AM

Well some buttholes decided they needed my truck more than I did today, they have them on camera and yet I am highly doubtful they will find it and if they do it’ll probably be a burned frame. Who all has had one stolen and what was the outcome?

Here - Mine was stolen at Sweet Springs Missouri decades ago. Apparently, the descendants of the James/Younger gang must still be at it.

Never recovered, the local Sherriff was more concerned about how we got his home phone number.

If you drove a vehicle like mine not much risk someone will steal it. I even leave the keys in for them. But I am sorry to hear your bad luck. I've had a few things stolen and there isnt much that makes me madder, other than someone messing with my family.

Same as you Yes Sir, back in my early days no one was desperate enough to steal my outfit.
Now a days I embarrass myself by setting off the alarm on my keychain when I stop at the grocery store.

Never had one stolen but the old work truck I had to leave it at the John Deere dealer this summer for awhile and left the keys in it, one of the workers there ask our salesman why the keys were still in it and he said the truth, its so they didnt break the window, but they never stole it.

Had a motorcycle stolen a number of years ago. First thing the cops asked was if I had insurance. Things went cold rather quickly and never heard a thing. Eleven years later I found the bike and managed to get it back but no real help from out local law enforcement. I wish you luck on finding it and in one piece.

It’s a 15 yr old truck, but had low miles and I kinda need it. Cop pretty much acted like no big deal and didn’t seem to be a real go getter.

Should have told the cop you left a dead body in the truck you were going to bury????

I can pretty much guarantee that whatever the contents in my truck at any given time would be worth more than the truck value- and that aint saying much for the contents. I still don't lock it but sometimes I hide the keys

Not a vehicle, but I had a new dump trailer stolen out of my yard about three weeks after I bought it. Four days later, a sheriffs detective brought it back to me, I was very lucky. The thief got stopped for drugs and they searched his phone, there was a pic msg he had sent trying to sell my trailer for 300 bucks, they got a awarrant for his house and found it hidden in the garage.

Yea that's what I thought back in the early 80's. An other guy wanted to go hunting the first nite of coon season. It was Sat nite and we took my old 60's something Ford truck. We used it hard farming and one of the hard hands was picking up chunks an backed into a stump with tail gate down and made a U out of the gate. The shifter was 3 speed on column and it was out and gone , we used a screw driver to shift it, kept the screw driver on the dash.
We started hunting as soon as it got dark, got about a 1/4 mi from the house and had a flat on the rear. We walked back to the house got my new 81 pickup and went on hunting. Came home about midnight and the guy asked if I wanted to change the tire, I said no I would get it in the morning. I get up at daylight and head to hog house 1/2 mile from house, I get there start feeding sows and happened to think about coon hunting then thought, you know I didn't see that old truck. Go back to the spot, nope gone. Neighbor farther down the line said it went by there really slow and thumping loud about 3 A.M. I found it a couple miles away, they drove it until the tire come completely off. They took my battery, shot shells and rifle shells and assort of tools. New rim and tire and battery and I was back in business. People will do some things you would never guess, just glad I had no spare and they weren't smart enough to get it out of 1st gear, lol.

I traded a f150 for a guy to drywall and install all fixtures, toilet, bath, etc. in a new bathroom. once he got the title, he left town never to be seen again.

I stole a truck once.
Sort of.
I friend of mine was measuring a property with a lake in the middle of it with a measuring wheel. I parked my truck out of sight and waited until he had his back to me and snuck up to his truck, saw the keys in the ignition, hopped in and drove all the way around the lake up to where he was at and waved. He saw who I was and waved back, but continued measuring. I drove off just to see how long it would take before he read the giant company logo on the side of his truck which I just stole. We had a good laugh. Well, I know I did. smile

Me personally 1 car stolen, 3 vehicles broken into multiple times. Got my car back the only thing in there I cared about was my calf skin covered bible. I was relieved to get both car and bible back. My uncle (worked as a deputy) had an 80's vette stolen and used in multiple crimes. The punks totaled it in a pursuit.
I can't count how many friends and family have had their vehicles stolen and or broken into.

Turd Furgeson, I'm sorry they did that. When you get it back INSIST they test for fetynal. If it tastes positive the insurance had no choice to total it as it's nearly impossible to clean 100% of the way and a tiny amount can wreck you and or others in your truck.

Never had a vehicle stolen, but I had 300k of cattle stolen by a worthless Guatemala. That said he was from Mexico and had all the paperwork saying he was here legally. He was deported 2 years ago, but Trump caught him last week at the border and he will be doing a hard 5-10 in federal prison! I hope it’s a hard 5! I got a call from the Federal probation officer here in Kansas, and told him to throw away the key. Worthless €£#%~}%. I’ve thought many times. Never mind but a backhoe would have been involved. I had employees that didn’t get their bonuses for two years because of him, and my family took a tremendous hit in our wages to keep the farm going.

Had an old high school pal of mine that was out drinking one night. He and the guy with him drove by a bar and saw the car of another pal's in the parking lot. They decided to hot-wire it and "borrow" it to have some fun. They tooled all over the county for half the night, drinking and being Rednecks. Long about dawn they decided to take it back where they found it and leave it there. Only problem was they had to drive past the car's owners place on the way back to the beer garden......and his car was in his driveway! They puckered their way back the 15 miles to the bar and dumped the car post haste.

True story.

I figured you guys would have some good stories. Only things of value in it were my wallet with 7 bucks and debit card(cancelled immediately) and two car seats for my boys. It’s a very strange feeling when you walk up to where your car was at a public place and it is no longer there.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. The only way LE is going to test any controlled substance in a lab that is found in a recovered stolen vehicle is if they think their is someone to prosecute. (Here anyways)

Also not much LE can do anymore regarding the investigation of stolen vehicles. There are too many and not enough resources. Your stolen vehicle will go in to NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database maintained by the FBI and if anyone in the nation tied in to the system (Law enforcement) runs the vehicles VIN number it will come back as stolen. Then you should be contacted. It's pretty much a waiting game on the NCIC hit.

I had my truck stolen and it was found the same day. Best security system for me was at the time I never put more than $5 of gas in it at a time. They were headed out with it to go mudding and destroy it but it ran out of gas on a farm field road. Farmer found it and called it in. Funny thing is they went about 6-8 miles and the farm they ran out of gas on buts up to the 60 acres we deer hunt.

That's fine as long as the officer enters the correct vin numbers. Had I not discovered that, my bike would still be missing.

Sorry to hear about your stolen truck. Couple decades back when I lived in a small town a fugitive was chased out of a seedy hotel and ended up hiding out in my, at the time, new truck. He laid down on the front floor and smoked three cigarettes which he put out by snuffing them into my cloth seats!!! They never caught the guy! Boy was I peeved but it was my fault for not locking the truck! Lesson learned!

No I wouldn't get my hopes up for sure, just depends on the jurisdiction. My city's pd has a department for stuff like this. Even with a department for these crimes they didn't swab for prints on my stolen car because it had been sitting for a few days with crazy summer weather. I know some insurance companies in select cities are starting to request fetynal tests on recovered vehicles due to rise in popularity and damage tiny amounts can do just by touching it.

But they was abel to get 250 miles away and I reported it only minutes after it happened!! But it was a tough ole turd they hit a parked car and ripped the corner out of a building fleeing the cops! It run out of gas they dumped it stole another car and made it into Kansas.! But nothing was broke I drove it back home from the impound yard. The police was worried about a stupid ole Mossberg 22 mag that was in it! I was more concerned about the thousands of dollars of refrigeration tools in the bins it had a knaphied bed. The idiots took all my cordless tools and never touch any high dollar tools. STUPID CRACKHEADS!

Re: Who all has had a vehicle stolen? - 08/16/19 03:30 PM

In 1998 I woke up on a Saturday morning and my truck, (1998 Toyota T-100) wasn't in the driveway. I rubbed my eyes and asked myself if I'd had too much gin and loaned it to a buddy. Anyway, it was stolen by a kid who looked for Hide-a-keys. The cops in San Francisco, (1 hour from my house), found the guy and after a chase that ended up on a tennis court with 50 pounds of chain link fence wrapped around the rear axle, they had my truck. I got it back and was able to drive it home after tweaking out the front fender. He had been smoking cigarettes and pot in it for a week or more and sleeping in the back and the radio was fried. Fortunately one of my employees undertook the job of cleaning it up... including porn mags, uneaten sandwiches and the like.

Kemper totaled the truck and I bought it back for $2,300. My neighbor ran an auto body shop not far away and brought it back to 100% for $1,400. Just body work with no frame damage. I bought a new radio, 4 new tires, and a new dog bed for my black lab.

I drove it for another 11 years and in 2009 I sold it for $3,500 to a guy who cooks at a buddy's restaurant. I saw him last November and he's still driving it.

It was the kid's third strike so I think he's still in jail.

I have never had one stolen but know quite a few that have, seem they were always up side down on them and was about to get repoed. They had full coverage and soon had had a brand new truck. Funny how that works.

Happens in rural South Dakota too. Probably 30 years ago a neighbor had a pickup stolen from the end of the field he was cultivating corn in 20 plus miles from Aberdeen. Thief made it to Rapid City and blew the engine in a high speed chase.

Update, truck was found one county over at a river access on state conservation land, they took my wallet, one of the two car seats and my sunglasses, didn’t even beat the truck up. They towed it to town where I got to pay the 102 dollar fee. The thieves either took the keys or chucked them somewhere, I have been scrambling to find my spare which I have seen somewhere within a couple weeks....smells like cigarettes inside of course.

had a 1 ton chevy stolen from job site was the fuel truck with cpl 125 gal service tanks on back... nobody noticed it gone till we needed fuel for the compressors.... called the cops and it was in impound.... they filled it up with diesell... was a pain getting it bled out and running again..that was in north st paul..
i live in the country and my wife pulls keys... i say its less of a problem to deal with stolen vehicle once in while than it is to look for keys every time ya want to move it,,
old timer i knew .. we were driving down the street and some girls hollered your keys are in your trunk..... he replied i know they dont fit the ignition...lol

No outfits stolen, I still leave keys in the outfit. I also never had one broke into. If I would leave the area and go to the big town, then I would locker her up tight.
