Had to happen

Had to happen - 08/18/19 08:26 PM

Had to happen didn't it. My generator just gave up the ghost this morning. So had to go to TSC and get a new one. I got a cheap Champion this time round though as it only has to get us through a month or so till we get real electrickery that comes out of a pole. I have a bigger one at the workshop trailer but that stays there as it is to thirsty and loud to run all day on board.

That champion in my experience is a real good generator. Do your first oil change after a few hours of use because at least in mine it got really dirty during that first break in. And then after that you can get quite a few hours on a oil change.

Interesting, yesterday, I am pretty sure I blew the rings on my 2165 Jonsered after cutting firewood with it for nearly 2 decades. I'll take it apart here shortly and see what's up.

Yep I have had Champion inverter generators with remote start for a while now. I was on my third when it finally gave up. But they have to work for their living with us for sure. Start them up at 0700 in the morning and get turned of between 21 and 2200 and that 7 days a week. The ones I used till now where the 3150Watt version and did fine for me. This one is not an inverter and just has a pull start but its half the price and will do us for the short time we will need it.
Sorry to hear about your woods moped. I hope its just the cylinder and rings. Thats an easy fix and not to expensive. You can get Husky after market parts for it that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I am pretty sure the 365 Husky I have and 2165 Jonsered are the same saw, 65cc (4.0 cu Inch), and that's about what I like putting up wood with.

Thank you for the warm welcome Lioyd . We are moving the boat up to the property on the 9th of next month and I'll go up in a week or so when work lets me to prep the place for it .... Putting ten piles into the ground where the boat is going to sit on when she gets there. The I can breathe out and regroup. I am sure to give you a call at some point as i know no one in the area at all other then the realtor ... just with that post you saved me the scouting for a gun store that may come in handy. Thank you

ATB

In Virginia the power seems to be off about as much as it is on. I have learned that good working generator is worth its weight in gold. I don't care what brand you run as long as you can get parts for it easily.

Ohhh I am keeping this little thing and my bigger Generac for sure and the little Honda 1000 just for when I need lights in the workshop trailer.

I went with an after market saw top end. It will be the last time I waste my energy in that direction. I hope youns have better luck.
Sometimes I think my calling in this world is to work on old stuff lol.

Re: Had to happen - 08/19/19 07:48 PM

i like working on old stuff. But for me the definition of old stuff is that ya can't get parts anymore and ya end up having to make stuff that fits and hopefully looks like the original part. Had to make some carb jets for this little beauty. The originals turned a green color and ended up being the wrong shape after trying to clean them up. Pitting and stuff. So drilled them out, made new ones and pressed those in. Runs like clockwork now.

Run, it's really not that difficult. For most things all you need are some tools, some time and some tenacity. Then ya just keep breaking stuff until it works again crazy
