Son left for Marine boot camp - 09/10/19 01:30 AM
Been a tough day here. My trapping buddy and the one who got us into trapping left for Paris Island today. Gonna be a rough 13 weeks. Please send prayers his way to be strong. He's the one closest to the camera.
Mom, 2 sisters and longtime girlfriend watching him pull away

Charles- He has been the most patriotic young man I know. He considers it his duty. Has been thinking about this for a few years.

Been there. Watched one son take off to the Air Force & another to the Army. It is tough, but it also makes you proud of them. He will be all right Dad, trust me.

Get some! I'm not a parent but I am a Marine. Gotta be tough I can imagine. My dad refused to see me off to boot camp.

He will be fine. That brings back memories when I left for basic training way back in 1969. The first day or two seem to be the hardest, after that one starts to adjust.

Just picked our grandson up a week ago down in San Diego. He admits it was the hardest thing he'd ever done, but he stands taller now, he is so respectful and appreciative of home and family. I asked him if he'd like to make a career of it. He thought for a minute and said, Maybe. You know this generation of kids just don't know how to do hard things. This will likely be the toughest best decision your son has ever made. OohRah!!!
