Electronic time clocks in factory - 09/11/19 08:58 PM

I can punch in the main time clock in morning an punch in an out of jobs as well as transfer to other jobs by scan barcodes on paperwork for job an put other info in, I also punch out on time clock that not use in morning but the one where punch in an out jobs an transfer, by putting.in no parts, an operaters an punch out with code, occasionally time clocks act up an not sure if one I clock out of today, was shut down by mangement after I left. I am a temp worker, had problems seversl times past, my name did flash on screen like supposed to but keyboard took repeated attempts at punch out, I believe I good go with my name flash in screen, but if time clock was shut off by mangement after I left mid day, where does info go after u use electronic time clock ? To office computer , right after use time clock ? If so , I ok. Unless clock shut down with my info in it an lost, this place can be rough sometimes a lil. An had go though temp place an hassale with paycheck mistakes , several times , but was nothing I did wrong, as although was blame as company alwsys right

Our shuts down all the time we just turn it on and set the time back and go about our business. If your time isn't right call the labor board and they will get things strait real quick.

Never a truer statement^^

Coonman, you may have discovered how time travel works, just have management shut the clocks off

Quit worrying, right down the time you swipe in and out everyday. Make sure you get paid for the right hours and move on to your truck

Not sure if reading is his problem or our problem. It took me 5 minutes to read that and barely comprehend.

Translation:

I work in a factory where at the start of my morning shift, I clock in on the main time clock for the building, by inserting my time card into the mechanism, to physically mark it.

During the course of my work day, the factory keeps more specific records of the jobs I complete by scanning bar codes from my work orders at my work stations. I can also punch out from my days work at my various work stations, by entering my personal code. I do not have to clock out at the main time clock for the building.

Occasionally the readers at the work stations act up. Today I suspect that management turned off the reader I used, after I completed work there, when I went to lunch. I am a temporary worker, not a full time employee of the factory. I have had issue with improperly clocking out in the past. At the end of my day's shift, my name flashed when I clocked out, like it should, at my work station. However, it took multiple attempts to do so, after I repeatedly entered my code.

I am worried that if management did turn my work station off, that they may loose the record of my work, if the data was not transferred to the main computer, located in the office.

The factory has improperly reported my hours to the temporary service I work for before. It was a hassle to get them to rectify their mistakes.

Re: Electronic time clocks in factory - 09/12/19 01:54 AM

I should left a year ago, easy not to. Because less 10 minutes from home, an pt, an work nite job, that few nite a week. Have bum knee, or be long gone, I work 5 hrs a day in this factory, I guess I plan on stay pretty to for while now. As give me time for trapping, definately not much money an lots hard dirty work. Not a raise in 20 months, absolutely nothing but low pay for hrs u there that work, not a 1 benefit of any sort, almost all jobs I had in past, I like better. It close an part time, is only good thing I can say of it, no raise or benefits in 20 plus months plus treatment sometimes, really go against me, I guess can think worse jobs

Re: Electronic time clocks in factory - 09/12/19 02:28 AM

Coonman- My best advice is to keep your eyes and ears open for a better job. You can do that without leaving the one you already have. I would bet you are a hard worker. There are many places really looking for employees that are hard workers and not afraid of getting a little dirty. My job is finding jobs for folks that are unemployed or trying to find a better job, and there ARE jobs out there.

In the meantime you have a job that you know and gives you time for trapping. That is a benefit in itself sometimes. Sometimes having time to do what you enjoy is more valuable than a big paycheck. I know that may be tough to swallow when it comes time to pay bills, but there's a lot more to life than working.

Keep your eyes and ears open for a different job while you are still working. Talk to your friends, family, neighbors, and trapping buddies and let them know you are looking. That is called networking. They know you and may know of a different job that would be a great fit for you. Many folks I have worked with have used the folks around them to find a job they really enjoy.

Best of luck and a good trapping season to you!

Re: Electronic time clocks in factory - 09/12/19 04:42 AM

Coonman, how many clocks are available to clock in and out?
The company I work for has several...They started writing employees up for missed punches which was obviously lost communication with the time clocks and the computer system in HR...

What I do now is punch twice on different clocks at the beginning and the end of my shift..
If one clock failed the other should register my punch..works for me so far

Coonman, if there isn't a better easily available job than yours within 20 miles it's time to move.

Re: Electronic time clocks in factory - 09/12/19 02:22 PM

Coonman, there has to be something different or some where else to work. Sounds like you have nothing but problems with that temp service and the place they employ you at. Question-do others with your temp service have the same issues? If I was getting hosed like that all the time, I'd be finding a different job

After reading the Home Depot parking lot thread, it might be time to try that route. $25 an hour for 8 hours paid in cash......just saying.......
