Trap ID question

Trap ID question - 09/14/19 12:43 AM

I recently bought some traps.

The seller said they were #3 Northwoods. They like look #3 Bridgers.

So I started changing springs and find 3 traps have different chains then the others. The others say #3 NW.

Look at the pans and all I can read is a 4 and under that USA.

I can't read anything else.

Tried a steel brush and WD40. Can't read nothing else. There's no indentation on the top of the pan so maybe all it says is #4 and USA.

#3 has 6 1/2" outside spread and the #4 has 6 3/4" outside spread.

Any idea what they are?

Likely #4 Montgomery Traps

Definately # 4 Montgomery. One of the earlier models. If you look down at the very bottom of the pan, you might find the word MONTGOMERY. I’ve got some new pans with that stamping.

Supposedly, Bridger bought all the old NW tooling and started cranking them out.

Bridger traps are manufactured in Taiwan in the same factory, by the same people who made the earlier Northwoods traps. Some have been modified.

I cleaned up the traps more and could read Montgomery on the bottom of the pan but it was very light.

Jr. Samples, I needed to know what trap they were because the 4 coil kits didn't fit.
