High oil prices are good for me. I work in the oilfield, high oil means lots of work and more money. If oil goes to $100 a barrel again the value of my house will almost double overnight

Never mind the dill holes coonman, it seems that they haven't grown out of the high school stage yet.

The rise in prices should be temporary.

Mainer, there’s two sides to that though. Remember when oil went down to $20 a barrel a couple years back? I do, cause I had to file for part time unemployment, and thank god my wife was working or we wouldn’t have been able to eat. Everyone else was celebrating low prices at the pump, we lived paycheck to paycheck eating Ramen

$6 a gallon here in western Alaska and we pump oil for the nation ! Now you guys can all realize what a good deal your getting. And what corrupt politicians/oil companies we have here in Alaska.

Isn't that the nature of the oil industry, boom and bust?

Probably wise to stash some cash away in the good times, to have it in the lean times?

I too live paycheck to paycheck, so when gas goes up, I feel the pinch.

You are right, that is the nature of the industry but that was the first time I experienced it. We had some put away, but the bust lasted longer than our savings did. We have since learned to manage our finances a lot better.

Very good. I hope we can get rid of the instability someday.
