If the barrel still has life in it then it is probably worth more than 300 easy. If someone offered it to me, i would take out the bolt, look down the barrel and confirm its not rusted and pitted and can see good riflings. Then i would quietly hand them 300 bucks and walk away feeling like a thief.

If the Remington 721 was characterized like the Remington 700’s, the ADL stood for average deluxe and the BDL was the for better deluxe. The ADL had the blind magazine and the BDL had the exposed floor plate, some other differences too!

721 and 722 were plain Jane forerunners of the 700. Long and short action, plain stocks ,no checkering.
Excellent shooting rifles for the money.

I have several and love them. The 725’s are the same way. The common calibers in 721 just don’t bring what they should for some reason. $300-400 will get you a pretty nice 721. The only ones that bring real money are the unmolested 300 and 375 H&H’s. FYI, parts such as bolt stops, extractors and ejectors are getting hard to find too.

Guess it's been over 25 years ago I bought a 721 30-06, never have shot the gun. Bought it cause it was cheap. Anyway, I've got a man that just worked on the trigger, it's down under 2 pounds now, floated the barrel and bedded the action. Need to get some ammo and mount a good scope, and see if it has potential.

According to the charts that I looked at, it's stamped YY on the barrel, should have been made in 1952. I think.

We're going to see what it'll do. Just my opinion, most rifles made and used at that time, are not like a lot of guns today. Folks would line in, shoot a couple shots per year hunting and put it away. I know of people that have hunted using the same box of 20 rounds for several years. Things have changed.

Honestly what I'm getting at, I'd like to have a medium long range big game rifle. Never know, the stock barrel might be a tack driver? I hope. If not, I may spend some money and have it rebarreled. If the stock barrel is a good shooter, I'll have what I'm looking for dirt cheap.

And I'll tell you, that metal "recoil" pad has got to go!!!

YES, if the rifling is still sharp, try and shoot it first
made them until '61
I restocked 1 in 264 WinMag and another in 300 H&H in the 80's back in my 'smithing days.
