Fading MT Licenses - 09/23/19 11:47 PM

Not sure everyone heard the news but if you have Montana hunting/fishing licenses they maybe faded out. They will replace if they are faded for free. LOL

I checked mine and couldn't read one letter on mine.

Idaho is having the same problem with some of their licenses also. The number on my fur buyers license is almost gone.

I called the F&G office and they send to bring the license in or send it in and they will replace it at no charge. Apparent,y you can not get a replacement license from a vendor without paying a fee.

Idaho went through this last year. We had to drive to a regional office or pay at a dealer. It was a hour drive each way for me and I wasn't about to give them any more money so I just pretended I hadn't heard the news and hunted with a faded out license and tags, tagged my deer with a blank tag.

Do not trust them at all. After the money only! Way to go!

^^^^^^^
Did the same thing in Washington about 6 years ago. I had two tags a deer and a elk tag, both were completely faded to white when I pulled them out of my wallet, just picked one and put it on the elk.

You should try Oregon's new Crap system. Fading ink is pretty minor compared to the new site odfw has,

My wife bought her license this spring and put it in the center console of the pickup, and never took it out until the first of September and when she took it out it was just a blank sheet of yellow paper. Looked brand new, like it never had anything printed on it

Yep, it's their problem, not all people have cell phones or putters if they try to reach people that way. If the license provider or MT would of asked for money to replace it, I would of just hunted with the blank license and mark it the best I could of.

Unless you go to a regional FWP office, you do have to pay for a new one- $5 each. Imagine having to take a day off work to drive 1-2 hundred miles to get a new "free" license vs paying $5 each locally. It's not like FWP will keep their regional offices open on the weekends so you don't have to miss work for THEIR mistake.

Yep, what a joke! LOL I got a message saying a replacement would be free and it should be free. I went to a place in town that I bought my licenses from and they replaced mine free of charge. I would think you could get replacements online also, but I dont know that for sure. There would no way I would drive 30 miles on my time to pay for a replacement. LOL

Do you have computer generated licenses or are they filled out with a pen? Our are printed on white printer paper. I have never had a problem with them.

Here we can print all the licenses we want and we do it on line and they still charge a issuing fee! I keep copied in my vehicles just incase I don't have my wallet on me.

I do extras also and do the same thing.

* The email said to replace go into F&G office or mail bad license to F&G office or go to license provider for free replacements.

* It doesn't say we can replace online which seems very backwards in this day and age.

Why not just make a copy to keep with the original?

You can make a copy of what you buy for licenses but the tag itself is a special paper that is weather proof etc..

Re: Fading MT Licenses - 09/24/19 11:47 AM

You can only get the duplicates free from a FWP office. If you go to a vendor like Cabelas it is $5 per license, so it could add up. Seems like that is a crock since it is FWP's liability and not everyone lives close to a FWP office. Maybe that has changed, but three weeks ago that was the case.

Re: Fading MT Licenses - 09/24/19 12:05 PM

The last email. I got from them said form Sept 24 through Oct 20 you could get your new ones for free from vendors.... Closest vendor to me is 60 miles. I can still read mine with a little effort and eye strain and am going to use them as is.

On a side note: you are told to keep your receipt whey you buy something. Make sure you make a copy of the receipt because it will be faded and unable to read when you then them.

My son's MN non-resident license was faded out also....almost looked blank until you examined it carefully and then only a few words were visible.

That's what you get when you go with the cheapest bidder....

What a joke for having the license purchaser have to pay for a remake when it was MT problem. LOL

That is the same email I got also they will be free. I still can't beleive they couldn't have done this from online some how and have the state mail them out. I beleive they received a lot of heat on having to pay for their mistake. It might be another way they could get some more revenue. LOL
