Migration stopped!

Migration stopped! - 09/24/19 06:58 PM

For a few birds this morning. The honkers worked the decoys perfect all of them were feet down hovering in the kill zone. Even had a flock of snows come by which worked it perfectly too and I managed to knock 4 of them down. Duke made a nice 100 yard blind retrieve today and tracked a cripple for about 300 yards. He is turning into an amazing bird dog!!

Good job. It takes birds to make a dog, looks like you have plenty.

Looks like a great day. That goose hunting can get in the blood and become addicting.

I had to stop and shoo 30 Canada's blocking the road this morning. Doesn't seem like much of a challenge, unless a fella was taking them down with horseshoes.

That is a great deal of picking and cleaning for the freezer.
In South Dakota, they had real problems with shooters as they were not hunters, mass killing birds on the liberal limits and just dumping them in the trash, along the road or something as bad just breasting them out and throwing the rest away. My Grampa was so poor in the 30's that he had to eat apples all winter. He never let any of us ever waste anything on game.
That many birds would have me past midnight dealing with them.

First snows I have saw here. They mainly jump over us and don’t stop till half hour south at least. I like my 5 miles out of town goose hunt it’s more convenient. Those snows must have just rolled in overnight. 2 adults 2 juvies

Thanks! I make it a personal goal 100 retrieves a year at least. Last year he started hunting just shy of 7 months and we accomplished that goal. So far we are at about 40 this year. Need to shoot some more geese and bush chickens

8 dark geese a day but only 5 specks. Season runs till December 16 I believe but we won’t have geese much past Halloween

For nine years straight we hunted north Saskatchewan for ducks and geese. Exchange rates were great and a ten day hunt was cheap.. It spoiled in regards to hunting MN.

Made a couple waterfowl trips to Manitoba and had great success and lots of fun.
