Is there a way to avoid catching skunks in sets intended for fox or coyote?

Set back away from fence lines. And dead piles stay back 30- yards.

I have tried pan tension, lure instead of bait, even location and still can’t keep them out when they are in the area.
Good luck and let us know if you figure it out!

At this point I'd rather see a skunk in my trap than a coyote.

Skunks are valuable, as much or more than a Georgia coyote

Skunk is worth more than a lot of other fur, now.

I don’t mind skunks in my sets. First, they pay for some gas between the essence and fur, and second some of my most productive canine sets ever have been remakes after a skunk catch. Something about it just makes it a canine magnet.

I don’t mind them either. Manly because my sniffer doesn’t work very well. Loud bait is a big factor on how many non target animals you catch. IMO

I enjoy catching skunks. I actually like their smell.
Best ways to not catch them were mentioned above; first catch a bunch and knock down the local population, then make sets slightly away from cover.
My local skunk population has declined over the years, hardly catch them anymore. Wish we had more of them.

Depends on the size here a couple jumbos will get you that or several small/mediums.

Skunks are attracted to urine and any lure, pan tension is the best method to avoid them

I once trapped a farm, I was hoping to get my first coyote. I was thrilled when the owner gave me permission to several places he owned, hundreds of acres... After a week of coming home smelling like a skunk everyday I pulled my traps.
