The Power Of Conformity - 10/22/19 10:11 AM

Apply the following to Democrats. To Republicans. To whichever group you want. The results are, IMO, both astonishing and unfortunately, predictable.

I thought they were only going to be stoning someone. I didn’t realize it was going to be as horrible and standing up for bell ring. That’s awful.

That's an interesting example of mob mentality. i wonder if it was a legitimate experiment or staged.

A graduation ceremony is an event where the commencement speaker tells thousands of students dressed in identical caps and gowns that "individuality" is the key to success. ~Robert Orben

That explains the acts of most of the people at political rallies and die-hard party members in general. Just look at how fast any negative label for the members of any opposing group are adopted and parroted followers, ie..snowflake, trumpster, demonrat, tea bagger, etc....

Re: The Power Of Conformity - 10/22/19 12:14 PM

There is always a few that won't or can't conform. Such as a blind one or deaf one. Maybe a crippled one that can't keep up. Of course there are just some who will not conform to go into the wide end of a funnel knowing they will be squeezed at some point. Those that won't go in to drink the cool-aid may be shot and dragged in or made an example of.

One of Jim Jones favorite slogans or techniques of mind control was the famous borrowed words of "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it". That slogan he had painted on two signs of which he had hanging above and behind each of his two thrones. Its ironic that those words he used for control can also be used to remember a wacko like him.

Think this could be partially cultural? The subject was Asuan who typically have hugh levels of conformity.

Theres a similar study regarding Japanese traffic control.

What does this mean?
I suppose you took my post as some kind of a shot at my fellow republicans???
Being afraid to go against the tide of the masses is the biggest problem with BOTH parties and our system in general.

It means you parrot the exact same message over and over and over and over and over again. Do you ever have any original ideas or opinions?

"original ideas or opinions" laugh laugh now that, right there, is funny when coming from any party-first mind from either of the two sides.
Watch one of the rallies and decide for yourself if most of those cheering every word and carrying a sign do any of their own thinking. Talk about a bunch of conforming sheep.......Oh well, it worked for hitler for a while. So maybe bernie and the donald aren't as bat-crap crazy as they seem.

When we see a communist and a "stable genius" with "great and unmatched wisdom" get such large crowds here, the country is in trouble. And it is mainly the fault of the unthinking conformists.

I won't of been standing up.
I don't care what the others do, I can think for myself.

I can't begin to list all the things that the "normal majority" of people have or do that I don't do or have.

Thank you for confirming my point but I don't think it was at all necessary.

That's funny
Trump is the first president in my lifetime to go against the grain of Washington, and were being called conformists for supporting him. Look in the mirror troll.

Re: The Power Of Conformity - 10/22/19 03:14 PM

Some of ya jist don't git it- it ain't 'bout bernie, liz, hitler, or some religious leader, it's about those who will follow to the point to which they allow themselves to go along with everything their idol says and does. These followers also take any questioning of their hero as an attack on the leader AND the folks like themselves.

It happens with different faiths, democrats, republicans, commies, and trump supporters. Some people are just too comfortable letting others tell them what to think, or too afraid to dare go against the crowd.

You don't, that's for sure.

For the last 3 years at minimum, you've been preaching to us because we did not elect a cookie-cutter, establishment president. You can't see where preaching to us about conforming is hypocritical on your part?.

Re: The Power Of Conformity - 10/23/19 12:02 AM

If I was any kind of conformist I would blindly support the man I voted for. IMHO he his behavior has divided the country as no one person ever has, at least in my lifetime. I believe there may be a day, in the not so distant future, where other republican leaders will have the guts to tell the emperor he has no clothes.

When he said he could shoot someone in the street and not lose the support of his followers I thought he was joking. It just might be true.

Hyperbole. Look it up genius.
The "Followers" of which you speak, are not followers at all. They have found a candidate who isn't afraid of ruffling the feathers of the buzzards in both political parties. Conjure back to how he savaged the 16 other candidates in the 2016 Republican presidential nomination race. He won that nomination soundly, not due to blind faith followers, but rather by calling a Bush a Bush.
Do I cringe due to what he says from time to time? Yes I do. Do I wonder what is on his mind? Never. How many politicians since the beginning of time can you say that about?
Posted By: gryhkl

Re: The Power Of Conformity - 10/23/19 12:45 AM

I know what hyperbole is. And I think it was meant that way when he said it. Now, I think it may be true of many of his most die-hard supporters.....Oh, and, I wouldn't call myself a genius. I'll leave such self-praise up to the "stable genius" on Pennsylvania Ave.

Republicans just trying to "get along" with liberal democrats is how we got where we are today.
Trump gives back what democrats have been dishing out for decades.

Trump certainly qualifies as a non-conformist. Unlike certain posters that constantly regurgitate the opinions they hear on mainstream media...

I don't think any other President has shaken Washington and the liberal media as badly as he has.

There are few as conforming as the trump base. You have seen his rallies haven't you. Or listened to dobbs, hannity, carlson, and the other puppets on foxnews. They are as rabid as the conformists folks on msnbc and cnn....."Toe the line and cheer for every statement by your leaders. If that means calling anyone who does not march lock-step with the group a conformist, make sure you do that-just like all the rest of us!"..................hey wait a minute
