Anyone ever have any problems coming back across the border with your hunting rifle or shotgun. I filled out all the paperwork to cross into Canada but it just occurred to me that I'm unsure of the process of crossing back into the United states.

You did the hard work getting into Canada.

Hope it was a good hunt.

Make sure all the export permits are in order if cranes are in your bag.

That prior paper work will prove you have not acquired any firearms in Canada when and if they check.

Did you find that 28 guage Purdey a Ohio resident lost?

I believe when you leave the US you can go into US Customs and fill out some paper work for your particular firearms so that when you come back into the US there will be no questions as to whether or not the firearm was acquired in Canada or left the US with you.
I went through the procedure several years ago; pretty painless, and nice not worrying about being hassled on your return.

I've taken rifles and shotguns through the Edmonton and Vancouver airports for years without any problem. The Canadian paperwork detailed which guns went into Canada so if you brought the same ones back no problem.

Might be worth a call though.

Ah yes, most don’t know that prior to leaving the USA you need to go into the USA customs and fill out a form describing what firearms you are taking out of the country. There are no duplicates of the form kept by US Customs, you retain the only stamped copy, which is good for perpetuity.. I have always done this, and never was asked at the USA side when I returned to show this form. I thought it to be not necessary until one day reentering the USA at the Buffalo , NY port of entry, when I was asked to produce this form, which I did.

Like Squash said there is a form on the US side you can fill out. I’ve been hunting Canada for years and have never filled it out and have never had a problem. Came back Sunday from a trip in Canada and was never asked about guns. Just asked about birds bringing back.

US side will be far more worried that you might be one quarter of a bird over limit. Trust me your fine.
