2019 whitetail is a wrap!

About a week ago I spotted a big frame deer come out into a swathed oat field I had permission on. I sat the next night for him with no luck. This afternoon the wind was finally dropping after our blizzard the last few days. There turned out to be a lull before blizzard number 2 rolled in after dark. I put on my ice fishing gear to sit in a snow storm and away I went. Anyways got out to the field a few hours before the end of shooting light and there was 5 cow elk I bumped off. About a hour later 5 does came out and about 10 minutes after this guy followed. He alternated between chasing and eating. When he stopped at 187 yards I touched off the muzzle loader and that was all she wrote

TC triumph with 120 loose 777 and a 250 Barnes tmx. Couple inches high at 100 and 5” low at 200

Not sure 135-140. Be had real big beams and good spread to rack up some inches quick. His tines fooled me I thought they were a bit longer so he had some ground shrinkage

Saw one that could have been that ones twin brother in my back yard this morning. Just feet from my back door running does all over my place in the yard. He really didn't have much fear of me or concern. Got a couple photos will post later when I get time.

No it’s not. I haven’t been able to relocate him. He was living just south of where I could hunt and coming to where I could hunt to eat alfalfa. By now the alfalfa is dead so he is eating elsewhere I am sure. I think I spotted this guy come out to this oat field about a week ago. One nighg I spotted a big framed buck come out. That’s why I was sitting there. I’m hoping to get another chance at the big one I missed next year or maybe get my dad him during rifle season when he is cruising for does

I’m not sure. He wasn’t a 300 pound giant. I’ll let you know what the quarters weigh when I cut him. Between it snowing making the truck slippery and him having a decent body I couldn’t load him whole. I had to quarter him to get him in the truck. Or maybe all deer look small cause I have played with moose all fall lol

Haha not like it was -40. We are closing in on 6” of snow already. Quite a bit for so early in the year

Elk, Moose, Mulies, Whitetails, Pronghorns, Black Bear galore.....have you ever thought of adopting a fat retired American taxidermist? I'm fairly low maintenance too. Congratulations on a doozie of a buck. In my county that would be the buck of a lifetime.
