Dead fox in trap? - 11/03/19 09:43 PM
Last season I had a dead fox in my best set for bobcats. There was no apparent cause of death.
Skinning revealed it had been chomped one time only. Dog, coyote or lion? What do you think?

Lots of times a coyote or even a dog will garb a fox and shake It to death.

I've had coyotes do that to caught red fox. I think they grab them by the neck or back and shake them to sever the spine.
I have had several fox killed in traps. Coyotes and yard dogs. Had a red fox exploded last year nothing left but the tail some fur balls and a foot in the trap.

I’ve had it happen to kitfox in Nevada a couple times. Had one grab the fox by the top of his head and pull its shoulder clean off

Thanks for the replies. The fox was chomped across the spine, into the lung area, on each side.
