College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/06/19 04:38 AM

Well, the first College Football Playoff Rankings are out ….

1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Penn State

We know one thing is pretty sure … 2 of those teams will lose at least 1 game before season ends …. Next Saturday Alabama plays LSU … and in 2 weeks Ohio State plays Penn State... I really wouldn't want to on the winners of either game, although I know who I would want to win.

Re: College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/06/19 05:01 AM

Ohio State is still only ranked 4th in the coaches poll and 3rd in AP poll. Ohio State looks considerably better this year to me than last. Ohio State football games are the only team sport I watch. I live about 30 minutes from the Horseshoe and people in my area are noticeably happier when Ohio State is doing well. Late away games to the West, mean many people in my area will be tired or late to work the next day.

My younger brother Kevin went to medical school at Ohio State and had great season tickets, right at the 50 yard line, 4th row up. We used to go to the games when Eddie George was earning the Heisman Trophy and roaringly chant Eddie with the crowd.

Last game I went to in the Horseshoe was against Purdue five or six years ago, and they almost beat us. People were already leaving the stadium when we pulled it off at the last minute.

My Dad gets season tickets because he's grandfathered in as an alumnus. Two tickets to next year's Michigan game have been promised to me, so my buddy and I can go to the game before deer hunting.

The number 1 ranked team in the first ranking of the year has never won the Championship.
The number 3 ranked team in the first ranking of the year has never made the playoffs.

So they think Penny State would beat Clemson if they played today? Goofy.

You Oh state folks best not wish too hard for Bama or LSU, SEC is a bit different than playing
your normal high school teams up north.

Oklahoma is also still lurking around, doubt Penn or Oh state either one could handle them.

Hoping this is the year Ohio State doesn't make it personally. I am hoping it's Alabama, LSU, Penn State, and one dark horse. Hoping Wake can beat Clemson.

When you get smacked in the mouth by an unranked team early in the season this can happen. Maybe they should've taken a slip in the polls but not this.

Big 10 fan bois and SEC haters, plain and simple.
There a whole wing of college football sport writers doing everything possible to keep the big flop and anyone but Bama and the SEC relevant. Truth is big time football has passed on to the few fan bases willing to live, breath, die and spend the big money needed. It's also why you'll probably never see the second tier SEC schools (Auburn, Georgia, Florida) playing for a national on a regular basis.

Re: College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/06/19 03:30 PM

I have watched all of the teams play this year except Penn State. so i will just speak on my opinion of what I have seen and bypass Penn State. Ohio State does appear to have something different about them. somewhat of a swagger and careless abandon that I have seen in Alabama for years. I think a lot of folks are seeing that. they have so far dismantled what were thought to be good teams. A few anyways. Alabama seems to be towing the line just like they always do but that little swagger and dominant demeaner isn't there all of the time. There are gaps especially on the defense side of the ball where in the past there haven't been. I don't know if that really matters though they are solid and still follow the lead of the coach well. LSU is fun to watch and they are as confident as any team can get. They will have something to say in the end for the national title either playing for it and winning or losing in my opinion. My thoughts Ohio State beat LSU if they played but would lose to Alabama. I think Lsu will beat Alabama in a few days. Clemson has to figure out how to either get help in the ACC or their out of conference games because playing nothing doesn't help them. They are likely the best team in the country and we would never know until the end. They will make the playoffs along with LSU and Ohio State and Alabama. Any of them can win it all.

Re: College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/06/19 07:11 PM

Buckeyes actually beat Oregon for the championship that year. Can't anyone be objective when discussing college football? Of course I'm a Buckeye fan but I just love to watch college football.

Watched the Irish and Georgia early in the year. I like Jake Fromm. Neither team impressed me that much.

How does Auburn even score? I'll give Nix a pass being a true freshman but he is not very accurate. Decent defense.

Don't know what it is about Clemson but they don't look the same as a year ago.

I like LSU. In my opinion, Burrow will be the first QB taken in the draft. Smart, accurate and has a toughness about him. Defense could be better.

Oklahoma can't play defense.

Haven't had the chance to watch Penn St. I'll do that this weekend against Minnesota.

Buckeyes glaring weakness is still at Linebacker. They are much better than a year ago but still improving weekly. Chase Young should be the Heisman. Most dominate player in college football.

I'm just glad my Kansas State Wildcats are playing good ball again. The kids are really starting to buy into what our new coach is selling. Good to see emotion on the sideline.

Will they ever get the recruits the top schools get? No!! but that's fine with me. I'll bleed purple until I die.

I'm just hoping we win out, and Baylor wins out. Just so we can be in the Big 12 Championship in Coach Klieman's first season. That would be 3 years sooner than I predicted.

Bama is in the play off's EVERY year, pardon me if I forgot about some yankee school that managed to make ONE year, lol.

I have no clue who is the best team this year, bama's defense is beat up, LSU is hit and miss on defense, who know's what
Clemson is as they don't play anyone till the play off's, basically just practice games till then.

Ga. is decent on defense at times but Jake Fromm is a joke for a QB and will get them beat if nothing else will.

BUT I imagine ANY of them can and will handle Oh state or penny state if it comes to that.

Idiot's on the radio are talking about Oregon now, hahaha. They couldn't even beat pitiful Auburn with a high school QB, lol.

Our govnar declared tomorrow maroon and gold day. Sooooo…. penn state is sure to lose. And if that's not enough they just contacted the coach for a few more years to the tune of 13 million dollars. so they may drop further in the polls
Take that Mark Hall and Brady Berge.

Interesting, lol.

Bama beat bama in the first half, is LSU's year, they will be your National Champions this year.

Gopher's playing a SEC team, ahahha. I hope the committee has enough sense not to let high school teams in the
play off's, put OK. in need be.

Re: College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/10/19 10:49 AM

Haters gonna hate! If you think LSU is heads and tails above OSU then you’re the one that needs to start with evaluating HS teams. As for Minnesota, they aren’t at the top 5 caliber yet but they are a feel good story, a great, passionate coach that kids love and love playing for. I’d bet those kids would run through a brick wall for him.

Re: College Football Playoff Rankings - 11/10/19 11:11 AM

I watched the Penn/Minnesota game. It was a good high school game.

At least five SEC schools could've whipped either of them.

As for the LSU/Bama game. That first half costs us the game. The second showed that both have what it takes to go all the way. It's up to the committee now for Bama. I'm happy for LSU and Orgeron that their program is hitting on all cylinders I just hate that for any SEC school to do so has to come at Bama's expense.

Good news, all of you will get to see Oh. state play LSU in the championship game!

Bama has an NFL offense and a highschool defense, that's the bottom line. Just too many injured defensive player's this year
as well as the QB playing on one leg basically.

OH state might have to get past Clemson first though before they get beat up by LSU.
