Cross country ski groomer - 11/08/19 04:42 AM

Anyone make 1 to pull behind a vehicle, like a snowmobile? It's looking like another long winter here. I'm thinking of looking into grooming myself some trails.

Check the wilderness forum. One of the guys there pulls a groomer sometimes.

Put the skis on and break the trail with your skis. That is what I did years ago in the surrounding woods and fields. I have abandoned the xcountry skis now for snowshoes but the shoes could flatten out a trail for you to if you wanted to go that way. A lot depends upon what kind of a trail you want. Do you want a clearly defined classic two-track trail or the more open free style trail.

Classic 2 track slot ski trail.

There is You tube vids on making a simple one track groomer. We have a two track or snowshoe trail groomer at work made by a Co. company called Tidd Tech or something like that. The homemade versions were just weighted otter sleds with wooden track setters screwed to the bottom.
