Re: has fall gave way to winter? - 11/09/1904:25 AM
In our area I don't see November changing much as we have been below normal in temperatures since October. The last 10 days or so we are averaging about 10-20 degrees below normal. It will take a real warm spell in December to take November away and that may not be a good thing. We have had that in the past. I remember one season where I was wading a stream the 2nd week of December setting traps with a T-shirt on under the waders.

Snowing as I type. 2-3" on the ground already. 1st week of November is too early for snow/winter. With the future forecast of cold temps and more snow, it looks like it may be here for the duration. Last year on the 2nd Saturday of November, we woke up to 9" of new snow. Ponds are frozen over and creeks are slowing down.and tightening up. Not good for trapping.

We had the coldest October on record, snow in September and now it is running 10 degrees above normal and dry for the last two weeks and predicted dry next two. You guys may be swimming at Christmas.

Pulled my traps on Thursday night. All my ponds we're froze. Despite ten beaver, paddling a bloody canoe three miles though over 1/2" of ice got old quick. Next person who says anything about global warming is getting punched in the mouth

We had a low in the mid 20's last p.m., but yesterday a.m. it was in the teens. North of here in the Au Sable River valley it was minus 4 night before last. All the staging Sandhill Cranes around here are having to roost on ice rather than stand in water. Keeps this up and they will vamoose.

Its a normal winter like back in the 70's.It was common back then to see 20 below the first of Nov. Seen a skidoo in town today.Got about 3 inches of snow on the ground now and more coming. I pulled all my traps and put away the 4 wheeler until it gets a bit colder, and the running water freezes for better access with the snowmachine.
