Looks like I’ll have an opportunity to trap an area eat up with hog nosed skunks. I’ve never caught one. I was looking for feedback on folks that have caught them. Like fur market value, taxi value, essence. I’m excited for a new species

I should mention these are classified as western hog nosed skunk, or rooster skunk

I would definitely look into taxidermy market. Probably most money there. Craft/tourist market second best price. Fur market - last option.

A skunk like that at NAFA (back when NAFA sold wild fur) would grade as an extra wide stripe. The most I’ve seen those sell for is 18.00

I agree with the taxidermy market being your best bet. They are not at all wide spread, so that would make them even more apt to sell.....at least away from the S.W. where they live.

.....also, that is the easiest market to cater to.....just wrap well and freeze whole. Did I mention wrap well?

Neat looking critters. Does all the essence smell the same from different species of skunks?
