Killed a nice old mountain buck today

I hunt in Illinois and Ohio most of the time but I grew up hunting in the Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Still love chasing these old mountain bucks. Totally different than hunting the agricultural fields of the Midwest. We had a low of 6° last night and a crystal clear morning, around 9 I heard a couple grunts and looked up to see this old bruiser following a doe through the laurel thicket. Stopped at 50 yds and I dropped with my ole smoke pole. He weighed 202# and was tough dragging. Luckily we had some snow on the ground and made it a bit easier. These bucks don't carry the headgear like the big ones in the Midwest but there are very gratifying to hunt

That’s a very nice mountain deer man. Those are few and far between.

James we went from 60° on Monday to snow Tuesday and 6° tbis morning, I killed him at 5,000ft elevation so we get quite a bit of snow. But you can drive 40 mins from here and they hardly ever get any snow

Waggler those are Frazier firs that we grow and sell for Christmas trees. This is the biggest farming industry in this area. This buck came from Watauga county NC, what part of the state are you in Scout1?
