Market other than NAFA? - 11/17/19 12:20 AM

So with NAFA in the gutter, is there another good auction house to send furs to? I always shipped to NAFA. Now, I guess I need another auction house.

Nope it was the only one. All other fur buyers just sell their furs at NAFA so it's all over now.

I am sure the auctions were an outlet for some if not all of the fur that many local buyers may have purchased in the past. So the fact that NAFA is not a wild fur market probably impacts the North American wild fur industry a whole lot more than we may imagine and also for those who shipped little to no fur to them ever. The good part of that is there will be something, be it small, medium etc. that will be created. One of the things we have learned from this recent industry market option loss is if something is created, it will be best served by finding ways to serve customers w/o creating much if any debt. Being highly leveraged in a fickle industry with huge international expanse or coverage is even during good times a high risk, low margin enterprise. To us as sellers, commissions seem to be too high and we don't like commissions. In reality relying on commissions and fees to run a huge, complex seasonal, changing business allows for limited asset accumulation and thus little resources available to cover extended periods of low revenues.

I sell to Zander in NJ, they have their own direct market. And I get paid on the spot. They do pickups all over and I'm sure it will be expanding this year. Great Family and very fair.

All those international buyers are still there, likely will still have orders to fill. They'll be crowding FHA's buffet line this season.

I wonder if the local buyers that would take in your fur for NAFA will switch to FHA now?
