This is my experience as well. It comes from being way far back in the woods when at times, the coons are forced to mate with possums. If there is a homestead back up in there, then they also mate with the chickens. We call them Chicoons. I had a picture but lost it. They look real funny but taste good. Nice catch, that's a Coopossum!

If its legal in your area, selling it to the pet trade, as a breeder, would likely net you friend over $1000.00.

If it hasn’t been skinned, freeze it on the carcass until you figure out what to do with it. Might be big money to a taxidermist.

I've always thought those were just old ones.
You know, like when your lab gets all white, and grey in the face.

Someone that wants it bad enough.
If you lived closer to me I’d give you $450 for it.

I had a normal colored young coon earlier this season that had a head that seemed smaller like that one does . First glance I thought a dog.

Yikes! I think you could have gotten a lot more. But glad you’re happy! $100 for a raccoon is nice.

Check to see if has a pocket or two, it looks like a grinner/coon cross.lol
Neat to see the range of colors, sizes etc. in species we commonly harvest.

If you and your trapping buddy are happy with the price, that is fine. I personally think you could have gotten more if you had shopped it around.
I’m thinking that $30.00 isnt much to ship a carcass raccoon. It could cost a lot more to pack it right and ship it.
Good Luck.

Re: Super odd looking coon - 12/10/19 06:39 AM
Yes, I caught one about 10 years ago. It took me a while to figure out that "she" didn't have a mask. I probably got $2.00 for the hide and $8.00 for the meat. I didn't even take a pic.
never seen I before ,thanks for sharing

This time of year when its not hot shipping froze is not a big deal. Buy a styrofoam cooler for a container. Use lots of newspaper. Over night it. Rare stuff like that can surprise you what it will bring.
