I prefer traps for coyotes to have an inside jaw spread close to 6". I think the 550 is 4 3/4

×2 on a bigger trap but both the 550 and a modded up Bridger can do the job!
A tricked out Montana called th4 coyote special is about as user friendly out of the box as anything

Never used a 550 but have caught hundreds in Bridger 2's. Spring pins will get bent up after time on the 4 coil but you can replace them with hardened pins from J.C. Conner.

I have both and prefer the MB550, Both are 4 Coiled and have lot less issues with the MB550.

I prefer #3's, but do use MB550's also. If you latch on to one they ain't getting away. And that's 2 coiled.

Never even thought of the No BS K-9 Extremes. They look like some really nice traps

Mb 550 2-coil with OS jaws is a great tool.
It's my primary trap.

Mine too.
I was going to say I think I got that trap from you Mark but all them I bought from you are 2 coiled, this one is a 4 coiled. I found a dozen 4 coiled at a great deal and for some reason I didn't get the extra coils off a couple yet.

Re: Question for Coyote Trappers - 12/12/19 03:58 AM
MB 550s, offset, have increased to four coils as traps have aged. I have clay soils which are heavy. They come ripping out of ground. Foot usually touching pan. Easy to bed although I have to use setters. Sterling coyote trap is expensive but nice. 4 coil, offset, no lose jaw.
