4th Annual T-Man Beaver Tail Contest

It is time for the 4th Annual Trapperman beavertail challenge!

The rules are easy. Post a picture of the biggest beavertail on a beaver you have caught THIS YEAR, and if you have the WIDEST beaver tail by the LAST DAY IN MARCH, you win.

The second category this year will be longest muskrat tail.

Beaver Submissions

A picture of the tail, with a tape measure across it, along with a picture of you and the beaver will do. Please make sure the measurement picture is clear, and accurate. Tail only submissions won’t count. I'll post updated standings from the thread submissions periodically so we won't have to hunt through. Multiple entries allowed.

Muskrat Tail Submissions

Tail must be on the muskrat! Fold the hairs back with your hand and measure from the end of the base of the white hairs to the tip of the tail. Picture should show tape measure clearly. Tails off the body will not count.

I've got a picture of me with a beaver from when I caught him earlier this season, and I still have it's tail in the freezer for some as-of-yet to be determined reason. If I take the tail out of the freezer and I measure the tail tonight and take a picture, will it still count, even though the beaver itself is long gone, and the tail is no longer attached? I think that would follow the letter of the rules (picture of me with the beaver and a picture of the tail), I'm unsure if that follows the spirit of the rules though.

Goose - Maverick here. This is for fun. I'll accept. I will drop some hammers if them tape measures are looking a little funky though.

Here's a pair I caught a couple weeks ago. 6" and 6.25". Caught another 6.25" the next day but didn't take any pics of it.

A river rat

Got this 50lb'er this morning. An awfully narrow tail for such a beaver. It's only about 4.625 at the widest point.

This one weighed 52 pounds .

57 lbs. Not the biggest weight so far this year but the biggest tail. It would be neat to do a competition on width plus length as our beaver just don't have wide tails.

The big one in the conibear was 41.1 pounds, the big one my dad is holding was 58.4 pounds, and the smaller one I was holding weighed 23.3 pounds.

I’ve been successful with the stuff on that video but I’m 18 and a self taught trapper so I’m hoping some of y’all can help me out and give me some feedback. Just trying to learn from the best. Don’t have the measurements but just wanted to share haha. That’s the biggest one I’ve caught and got it 2 years ago behind my house out of a river.

I finally remembered this co ntest but I didn't realize the tape wasn't where it should be.if it was it should've been 4 1/2 inches. Lol

How about a length us width division next year. Some of us have narrow tailed but long beaver. Just total the 2 measurements. Just throwing it out there.
