Point me in the direction of a decent ar10 rifle or build. Under 1 grand not counting the scope.
Wanting to go with either 308 or 6.5 creedmore.

Mine is a DPMS. I've had it for a while. It is about as cheap to buy as to build. I changed barrels to an X-CALIBER. If you were to find a decent lower put a good trigger in it and get a blot carrier group at a decent price there are lots of good options to build from. I have a .308 and like it. It is a tack driver and has plenty of down range energy. You will find that the AR-10s have a lot of muzzle rise. I put an inexpensive brake on mine and solved that.

I have some, I would recommend one from Palmetto State Armory. I have the stainless barreled .308 and the 6.5 creedmoor and they are both tack drivers. Friend of mines son shot a stock .308 in a national match and won with it. You will save enough money to buy a better scope and trigger if you want.

I've been doing some looking lately and have been eyeing up a couple dpms options. https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/dpm...-matte-black-finish/FC-884451008200.html The hunter is available in 260 and 308 and can be had for around 1200-1300. I know a little over your budget. The bull in 223, 243 and 308 for around 900-1000.

I could basically build the same rifle for about 200 bucks less than buying the complete rifle?

I have a diamond arms .308 live it. Any lower or complete rifle from palmato will take weeks if not months to actually ship. I wont waste my time or money there anymore.

I have never had an issue with Palmetto or their service. I had to wait on No-Beto lowers but they were a preorder and said they would be 8 weeks and that is what they were. I have done transfers for tons of people that have ordered stuff from them and everyone was happy. Not sure what happened with you.

Stay away from cheaper than dirt. Bunch of underhanded, dishonest price gougers.

friend of mine had his credit card info stolen by an employee from palmetto state. as long as your talking about palmetto state in south Carolina. this was about 4 or 5 years ago I do know the guy that stole the card info has been prosecuted. obviously palmetto state isn't necessarily a bad company as this employee was the bad apple.

on that note my girlfriends dad lives in south Carolina and has used them and had good things to say about them.

I built mine out of different kits from different suppliers. dmps upper 80% lower finished on a Bridgeport mill with a jig kit. then installed timney trigger kit. I really like it but am wanting to build an ar10 and I haven't decided weather I want to do 6.5 or .308

I have ordered from PSA a few times , expect shipping to take around 2 weeks maybe 3 with holiday stuff being so busy but the quality for the price I have always been happy , and I had heard going int expect 2 weeks shipping.

they have all shot well.

ditto on stay away from cheaper than dirt , they gouged people bad during the 22lr shortage canceling orders and turning around and doubling or tippling the price and putting it back out of their site.
if you had $X into inventory and you were selling for $x=20% and you decided to cancel orders with established customers who had already made payment because you saw a quick buck to be made canceling the orders and increasing the price 150% then selling the same inventory you already had sold that is dishonest and you deserve no future business from the customers you had made a deal with and backed out.

I have a DPMS Oracle...think it’s the bottom of the barrel AR10, but it’s a heck of a weapon. Let kids use it where we hunt. Adjustable stock fits any age and .308 takes care of any game and gives them a little distance. They used to use the AR15, but they’ve “grown up” now, lol.

Bought several guns/ lowers from PSA never had any issues. Ordered tons of parts back when Barry had folks running scared. Did have a few minor issues but never anything that did not get fixed.

Only issue I had was for the volume I bought they never cut me a break for anything.

Re: Any ar10 guys on here? - 12/18/19 02:17 PM

The big thing to remember about the AR-10 is that there is not a "standard" like with the AR-15 so a lot of parts are specific to a given manufacturer when it relates to things like bolts, bolt parts, bolt carriers, upper and lower compatibility etc. but as far as I know they all use the same fire control parts as the AR-15 so there is and endless number of choices for triggers and such and I think most of the fore end assemblies are compatible between brands of AR -10 but not with the AR-15 . Then new lighter weight rifles are really nice, I had an older Armalite and while it was a tack driver it was alike trying to carry a cross tie through the woods. Look at a new one at the LGS the other day and it wasn't a whole lot heavier than a comparable AR-15, has actually got me thinking about get another one.
