I must be nuts

Posted By: gdccowboy

I must be nuts - 12/21/19 04:38 AM

So I started out this season planning on running my usual cat line
And running a water line with my 6 year old son now I have a 15 and 12 year old that want to learn how to trap and so I agreed to take them over there winter break . Today started out and ended with questions and I thought I was slow before at putting in sets you throw 2 boys asking questions it really slows you down
All I can say is I hope we catch something

Word to the wise, check the Noaa northwest river forecast center. I see your end of the Willamette getting pretty wet in the next few days.

Good luck!

Re: I must be nuts - 12/21/19 11:05 AM

I know what you mean. I took my two kids out to set a half dozen coon traps after school yesterday. By the time i had answered a list of questions and let them each put a set together, we were almost out of daylight. No big deal, thats what its all about. It was a lot of fun even if it wasnt the most productive. Good luck with the lines!

Looking at the NWRFC graph from a little bit ago it looks like the river came up about 1 1/2 feet since yesterday. Hope you did well.

Like opening the christmas gifts early for the kids I'll bet. Especially if they aren't all empty boxes.

"Summer's going fast, now it's growing colder, children growing up, old friends growing older".

Spend all the time with them that you can.

Re: I must be nuts - 12/27/19 02:59 PM

I bring my 6 and 7 year old as much as I can. It is a serious handicap LOL
I think it is more important to drag them.along than it is for my day to go according to plan, but it is nice to go it alone too.
Good job committing to bring them out and following through. I'm sure lots of father's just leave the kids in front of the TV when they trap.

Re: I must be nuts - 12/31/19 05:47 PM

you will enjoy the memorys well after you forget how long it took to make a set. plus once you teach the boys how,you will be setting three sets at a time.

Nice, take the kids couple more times before it’s time to go back to school. I drug my children all over the landscape don’t regret any of it. Keep us posted on the success.

Great interactions with your kids! This is the way out of many social messes that we are in. Kids knowing and respecting trapping
and their dad,and a parent knowing and respecting/loving his children. Congratulations
