Knife sheaths?

Knife sheaths? - 12/30/19 01:22 AM

Anyone on here make leather knife sheaths? I bought a Gerber knife that I really like but the sheath sucks big time. I would like to buy a custom one for it if it's nice and the price is reasonable. If you make them, could you post a link or some pictures of your work and maybe an idea of cost?

It is not too hard to make your own sheath for a knife if you are so inclined.

That reminds me of a project I took on when I was about 12.I made my own knife then set about to trap an animal, skin it with the knife and then tan the skin and make a sheath for the knife out of the skin.

Check out a leather kit. They are pretty inexpensive, and worth a try.

7.2 oz It's a nice knife for the money. Should last me a long time. It's balanced well and I can get a good edge on it. Bought it as an all around outdoors knife.

I'm looking for something sort of like this but made from thicker leather, maybe cow hide, not the mouse leather this thing is made out of.

Get a hold of Randy Shuff on here he does some great work with beaver tails.

I can do it, but results are a lot better with the knife on hand to use for pattern layout.

Most of the sheaths that come with knifes nowadays are plane junk anyways so it’s a good thing to learn how to make your own and a rap useful skill to have

Amy Warlander at warlanderleather.com can make a nice one for you. She makes a lot of custom sheathes for Randalls and Behrings and does quality work. She has some examples on her website. She does a lot of patch and inlay work on her items.

There is a Amish guy in New Wilmington that custom makes leather knife sheaths and holsters. A lot of people recommend him.
