That article cracks me up, they give you all the reasons for the "uptick" of gun issues in Toronto, more gun control isn't going to fix it. Man, talk about not seeing the forest for all the trees lol.

Shouldn’t you stick to your own countries issues? Or scratch the rust off some scrap metal?

Their plan is to pass this mess via order in council

The NDP (socialists) and BQ (separatist socialists) will prop them up.. there is no "main party" in Canada aside from the Conservatives that will not enthusiastically support gun control and press for more.

The trade unions will betray all the gun owners in their ranks and will support ANY party but the Conservatives and will pressure their membership to do the same.

Even our Conservatives are not nearly as interested in preserving personal freedoms as they should be.

We also have a huge number of "Fudds" in Canada who believe that their .30-06 that they drag out once a year to go drinking in the woods (moose hunting) is not a direct target of these attacks and they say stupid things like "Who needs and AR15 to hunt?"... "Who needs a handgun? We're not the USA!"

They'll be the ones crying when the RCMP throws their Pepe's Ithaca semi auto into the foundry...

Re: Canadian Assault weapons ban and buyback? - 01/17/20 04:05 PM

the police chief for Winnipeg was on the news the other day.

he gets it he said 100% of all handguns they are seeing in arrests in Winnipeg are illegal and were illegally obtained.
so making owning a handgun in Winnipeg illegal will only hurt the people who already are not causing crime that shoot at gun clubs , that only transport to and from gun clubs or may even keep their gun at the club.

that making Winnipeg "handgun Free" will do nothing to change crime , nothing it might make a few ignorant people feel better for a few minutes , but it is a complete waste of time.

Instead of arguing about who's best at calling names and working with metal, maybe you'd care to tell us your thoughts on an assault weapons ban and buyback in your country?

Honestly I don’t stress any about those kind of things. I continue on and the government will do what they want no matter what I or how many million others say.
I can guarantee my way of life will not change if they ban assault weapons or not!

Those are my thoughts!

Unfortunately we do not have a 2nd ammendment right entrenched in our constitution like your republic does. Your founding fathers were the only ones of any nation to have the foresight to see the incredible value and need for such a law. We in Canada have no such inherent right, and as such we are completely at the mercy of those in power. Sad sad days.

So since the Canadians have no 2A and a liberal majority government, and a feckless conservative minority government, and a populace that doesn't seem to care, what recourse short of armed revolution do those who still care have? Short of armed revolution, do they just have to bend over and take it?

we'd never let that happen,MAGA,and keepin an eye on canada--just soon as they sign that trade agreement.

Well since Quebec, Northern Ontario and such are basically French, every household has white flags at the ready lol. I jest but it doesn't look good for them to the east anyways.

You can see the vary same dynamics of gun violence as the U.S. Gangs, drugs, a larger separation between the higher and lower classes, mental health issues, more homeless, suicides. IMO suicides should not be considered a violent Crime. Suicides is not a crime against society or another person. We never hear about all the other attempts of suicide. Just weapons. JMO

You are 100% correct, it will depend on how your government defines assault weapon. Here in NY according to Cuomo and his bozos , even a semi auto shotgun with a thumb hole stock is a assault weapon.

So to Canadians that say what do you need a AR for, you will find out.

My point is , many hunting shotguns and rifles will be defined as assault weapons. So complacent people who don’t see the need for owning a AR, will find out that their law makers will not stop with just ARs. They will ask them the same question. Why do you need that semi auto shotgun with a thumb hole stock, 742 Rem semi auto deer rifle , etc.. if I can para phrase , anti- gunner, sleepy Joe Biden, all you need is a double barrel shotgun.

They can outlaw every gun ever made-it still wont stop people from having guns,it'll just make them outlaws.
Just like when the libs brought in the registry-nobody I knew registered any guns, and when the conservatives got back in it was scrapped anyway.
Be no different with these lib arseholes.
