An honest mistake. With all that hair on your arm, he thought he was on a sheepdog.
At least I HOPE that's your arm!

i thought he meant Boco.
As you know because you live in TX. Tick can carry several diseases. I have only see one tick in my life. I was on a rabbit that I had shot. Flees can also carry some bad things also. I did not mean because you live in TX as any kind of slam. There are just more tick in warmer areas.

Watch out for lyme disease.
na not that one but since it's a Lone Star tick; it transmits a lot nastier diseases, even when it climbing it can transmit off those little claws some nasty bacterial loads, it does not even have to bite to pass fluids.

How in the world have you only seen one tick in your life? Not trying to be a smart (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman), just find that incredible!

Wrong answer about warmer climates and higher tick numbers.
And what are flees ?
What we have to wait for this summer
Just be glad you have only found two as there is currently over 950,000 acres under tick fever quarantine in South Texas that is outside of the permanent zone.
I am in an extreme drought area and have been fighting to keep ticks off of brood mares for the last two months. They seem to be almost resistant to all of this "watered" down repellent that is safe to use because federal regulations has prohibited the things that work.

Burn them.
I can handle ticks. It’s the poison ivy and mosquitoes that will keep me out of the bush a bunch in the summer.

I live just over the county line west of you. Wish I could say I've only found 2 crawling on me so far in 2020. Haven't found any stuck since late November, before that was one about every 2 weeks for a while, all were the Lone Star variety. What I'm finding crawling on my clothes now are deer ticks. Best repellent I've found is treating my jeans with permethrin. You can buy it at farm & feed stores in up to 1 gallon jugs and mix according to directions. A little goes a long way and is supposed to last through several washings. I quit treating my pants after 1st heavy frost, which is too early. Stuck ones I dose with nail polish remover, wait 15-20 minutes and remove with tweezers. Only had the red bullseye rash once several years ago, had some leftover amoxicillin tablets on hand, called a nurse I know and she told me the proper dosage. Said if it wasn't gone in 2 or 3 days, or I started feeling bad, to get myself to my doctor or the ER quickly. I never felt sick, and the rash soon went away. I keep some on hand now and watch any bites I get closely for a few days. For a long time after fire ants became prevalent in this part of the country, we had few ticks or chiggers. It seems that ticks are making a comeback now, especially in areas where there is a lot of feral hog activity, and the deer, coyotes and bobcats seem to be carrying more than in the past. Cool weather don't seem to bother them much, they just crawl slower.

What part of Indiana and Ohio are you guys from. I wouldn't have thought there are ticks out in those states in January. In Wisconsin we have them from April through November.

I’m in central Ohio, it’s not normal to have ticks this time of year. In early summer late spring it’s can be unreal. Around 16-20 is the most I’ve picked off myself, this is at one go. But the record belongs to my wife’s old dog; who insisted be let in the house every night. I said fine but you gotta pick the ticks off. She would get some amazing numbers. Long story long, the dog passes away and years later we’re talking about this very subject and I ask what’s the most you picked off at one time? She says, I never told you because you wouldn’t have let the dog back in, but around 80! This is a 32 lb. beagle
I don't know what happened to them here, its a down year for them. I only pulled one out so far, about a month and a half ago and it still itches. They must be getting careless too, I found a couple crawling on my arm- they are usually more stealthier than that. Usually have anywhere from 5-20 pulled by now.

The spring morel mushroom hunt, gobbler season, and trout seasons are when I get nailed. I hate those freaking things!
I probably should have the Doc run lymes tests on me every year just because. I'm due for inspection anyway.
Spray permethrin on your clothes that you are going to wear outside fishing, hunting, trapping, mushroom hunting, hiking, etc. I have actually watched several ticks crawl up my jeans to about my knees and then they start picking their legs up and down like they are walking on hot coals. After a minute or so of doing this they just fall off.

Cool...I'll have to try some of this stuff. Thanks!

After I found this one on me I was petting our Great Pyrenees and she had 9 on her head and neck crawling around. We treat the dogs with Nexguard so the ticks don’t stick.
What’s this myth about opossum’s eating 5000 ticks a week?? We have possums all over the place.
