Commercial Pike fisherman?? - 01/18/20 10:08 PM

I was just in the local Russian grocery store today and I noticed they have frozen headed and gutted pike (shooka) for $6 a pound. I am wondering where it's coming from. Do they commercial fish for pike anywhere in the midwest? If so what do the fishermen get for it there. [Linked Image]

Sounds about right. They are getting 60 cents a pound off the ice in Manitoba.
That's why they usually get left unfortunately.
The heads are needed to make a dish with them boiled and it turns to jelly dish....a meal usually served on Malanka (Russian New Years ) the size 3-4 pounder just right
