How much is golf worth to you....? - 01/19/20 12:22 AM

Just saw an interesting stat. Since Trump took office we have spent $550,000 of taxpayers money just for golf carts for the secret service. Unreal. Not about whether Trump is good or bad, it’s about how the country spends money like it grows on trees. I believe Bill Clinton was the last US president that actually paid a substantial amount toward our debt service. I’m a conservative republican and part of that mindset is being financially responsible. Where will this all end?
Also as a side note I’m part of an organization that receives inventory from the military that was purchased but never used. Brand new stihl chain saws, generators, etc etc. Even a humvee. The wastefulness is mind boggling

Remember the "Golden Fleece Award" given out each year from 1975 to 1988? Wasteful government spending has not stopped but for some reason the award was/is no longer given out!

But the good thing about golf courses is you can always make then into something else later. Unlike malls, subdivisions , parking lots,
junk yards etc.

*Be sure and Vote.*

Re: How much is golf worth to you....? - 01/19/20 01:28 AM

that is a lot of money, but think about it this way, the secret service has to be all over the golf courses both in FL and NJ. Since Trump frequents both it makes sense. I would think Bush spent a lot on atv's for the secret service at his Tx ranch.

I am glad Melania has a small staff compared to Michelle's and Hillary's staff of around 2 dz. The FLOTUS has the smallest staff since Eisenhower. Around 4-7

I love golf, I’ll usually pay no more than $45 to play a round, though I have paid as high as $125. My favorite part is the girl who rides around with refreshments.

I like to golf. Get together with a few friends that I rarely get to see and have a good day. Plus, I get to trap and squirrel hunt in the winter on just about all the courses around here. As far as the potus goes, I spose there are worse things they could do for hobbies.

I'd like to see proof. Also every president has wasted money, not just Trump....I like golf. I play a few times a year. Golf courses offer a lot. Can get used balls out of the water to sell. You can fish and even trap on golf courses. Here you have some fur bearers and also turtles to trap on the course.

Lowest unemployment in what, fifty years. All those extra people working , they're paying taxes we weren't getting before right?

Trump could dig up a big gold nugget in the backyard at the White House, and people would beech about the hole.

That is nothing when compared to how much the many trips to his properties has cost the taxpayer. And with a little research, you'll find that visits to his properties by republican political groups and foreign officials has enriched him by many times more than the 400k he donates to charity.

On the subject of his golfing, it's comical how many seemed to forget that he often criticized Obama for his golfing and said that he would give it up if elected.“I’m going to be working for you, I’m not going to have time to go play golf,”

We are talking about taxpayer funded golf expenses here.
But, since you asked, yes, I do keep an Eye on the market. It has continued to be very good to me since I took a chance on doing my own investing just after Obama took office. I retired two years ago figuring I could easily make it on my pension alone. Each year since, the growth in that one account has grown by more than my highest annual salary. The market has done great while trump has been in office. That doesn't have anything to do with the cost of trumps, or his predecessor's, golfing habit.

I look to the president as a CEO and I as an investor in this great Country. If he is doing what makes the economy strong and good for the Country, workin on keepin the borders strong and in his spare time he has been able to keep our enemies at bay, well, heck, play an extra round or two, on me.

Grackle,

If and when he gives our enemies billions of dollars like your hero did, you will have a right to complain. A few million to golf and relax is a drop in the bucket compared to what your hero gave to the Iranians.

Jobs everywhere, stock market setting records, wages higher, fixing the trade imbalance, appointing conservative judges, trying to fix the immigration problem and build a wall to keep illegals out and you complain because he plays a few rounds of golf. You have no character other than to beech.

Again with the "Obama did....". It would not be so bad if those who use that as their fallback would mention the good that was done while Obama served too.
trump has done a great job keeping things moving along economically since being elected, no honest person can deny that.
The golfing, and the money it is costing taxpayers(subject of this thread), would not be nothing if it had been for the number of time trump himself complain about Obama doing it. I'm sure the good folks in trump's base were just as upset when people suggested that maybe Obama was playing too much golf when he was in office.

Our problem is that as a country we can't come up with a good canidate for either party.

Oh how I long to see another Reagan...but it'll never happen because society as a whole has changed for the worse.

So now we are stuck with tryimg to decide which candidate..regardless of the party.... Is the lesser of two evils.

I am sure that if you lived close to the border or lost a close relative to the drugs coming from mexico you wouldn't care where the money came from. Its an end around way to achieve his goal of building the wall. If you noticed he INCREASED the military budget FIRST.

Re: How much is golf worth to you....? - 01/19/20 03:21 PM

I was thinking about this thread, the majority of Trump's vacations have been working vacations unlike Bush or Obama.

Yes he's often at his golf courses instead of camp David. Think about it this way, would you rather stay at Camp David on the weekends or in a resort you own?

Also keep in mind there was a "mandatory vacation" Trump had to take due to remodeling at the white house. He spent that time working instead of actual vacation. People often use that long vacation to condemn him. I believe it was 3 weeks. In which he met with foreign leaders.

Bush used over 1000 vacation days, both Clinton and Obama each used around a year of vacation days.

I've never had a job where I got a year of vacation time in 8 years. In the 2 years before my daughter was diagnosed I had acquired 4-6 weeks of PTO. If it wasn't for pto I had or people donating their PTO to me I wouldn't have been able to be there in NYC for my family.

Maybe the potus, Senate and Congress should have a cap on pto. Both Senate and Congress need service restrictions like the Potus

I have seen all the money spent on his golf games and other presidents and it seems that with all that money over many administrations we would be better off building a presidential Disney land with all the amenities for them to play at. Beaches, fishing, golf, shopping ect. all exclusive it would be cheaper than flying them around. We just excerpted to a trillion dollars deficit. Makes me sick

For the Wall to work we'd need it all around our natural border.cause drugs aren't just coming into our country through Mexico.

Illegal immigration is way down. Cost savings to us. Mexico is now actively blocking the caravans of illegals plus retaining the "undocumented" within Mexican borders. Cost on them.

And the guy is keeping his business afloat. Many others in the line of work will not.

On a happy note, if one is in the market for cherry, oak, or some of the other hardwoods, now is the time to stock up. You can save tons if buy it green from a mill and you have a place to dry it for a couple years.

I know it for a fact. I have family in Texas right now...who own land bordering the river dealing with the govt concerning this issue. Part of thwir land will be cut off..inaccessible completely...if and when the Wall is finally built.

The Rio grande isn't straight... And part of their land will be same as gone in the event that the Wall is built

It would be worth it if it made things safer.

Trump's golfing wouldn't be objectionable, if he hadn't promised not to do it as president.

He said if he didn't have a few side businesses going it would be very hard to keep the place running. He was a huge trump supporter-now not so much.

In the long ran, the terrifs will help the country. There is always someone who gets effected regardless. There were no positives with bummer.

Yeah, he lied.

Big. Beautiful. Wall. Remember? Spanning the entire border. Remember? Lied again.

All they have done, as of 11/19, is replace 78 miles of existing barriers.

Trump has donated his entire salary since in office. It will add up to $1,600,000. Isn’t that worth something. Meanwhile Obama recently purchased a 15 million dollar mansion. Where did he get the money? Taxpayers?

All I know is the GOP is getting set back for years to come by what is going on. As far as the abuse of the constitution it will continue if it gets by this time, that to me is the real issue. Abuse it now it will continue for all administrations yet to come.

That is the reason trump wants no Americans to believe anything they don't hear on his news outlet....while he has been spreading "fake news" since the day he was sworn in 3 years ago today and lied about the crowd size.
The republican party members who are at the most extreme right have the cowardly republican politicians running scared and trying to stay safe hoping this all blows over

Bill Clinton paid nothing, that was taxpayer money, as Clinton put in retroactive taxes or taxing people twice to confiscate money from them.

And yes there is not any fiscal responsibility and never will be, as Donald Trump is a socialist, not a conservative. He had kept Obama's polices in place as have the GOP. The democrats are marxists due to community organized Obama. America is an exact replica of the German economy of the 1940's in debt spending, relying on cheap foreign labor, the corporations are fed tax money directly from the government. This is what socialism is and defending it, because your republican or democrat is in power is progressing this to the elimination of the middle class, which is where the freedom and liberty is in a nation.
Ronald Reagan's America is gone. You can love America, but know you are loving socialism and that is why all of this outlandish spending is created, as that is what socialism is, the public looting of the Treasury.
