You'll really enjoy it. I was there for the grand opening. At the time, I was stationed at McCoy AFB, Orlando, FL. One day the first sergeant came asking for volunteers to blow up balloons for the grand opening of Disney World. I volunteered, had a great time, and was rewarded with 8 books of tickets. Four of us attended later two straight days and never used up all those tickets. I'm sure they do it differently today though. I know the place is a whole lot bigger now than it was 48 years ago.
I got to blow up some of these balloons.

If you bass fish take a pole or two. The canals around that area, even inside the park, are loaded with bass. And grown ones too.
Of course that was when I was a senior in high school in ‘86. It was our “Senior Trip” so a few buddies and I made the best of it. Caught enough that the maid that cleaned our room would clean the fish for halves. We had enough fish we put on a fish fry for EVERYONE in our little campground area. We stayed in cabins somewhere on the park. Grad Night was fun too!

We went there in the 80's and just stayed 2 days out of 7. The crowds and lines where so long you most of the day waiting in line. Loaded up and went to the beach and the space center which was awesome.

Thats alright. Snow has been terrible this year. Practically non existent so still waiting to put out cable restraints. Might not even the way it's going. Already shifting my thinking to spring prep. I dont trap beaver. Anyway we just landed an in line for shuttle. Weather aint half bad. 70 and sunny. Low humidity.

Don't go it's a money trap & they really don't like your input into the clothing industry. If you do go your eyes are going to be real busy taking in all the sights and then some. Just kidding. You will enjoy yourself and you can,t take your money to the grave but you will have folks remembering your treats when you are being planted.

Watch out for the gators.I read that they are over run with them, but they have culled some since a little kid was eaten a couple years ago.

No can do on the fishing. This trip is all planned out by the missus. I will say, traveling with your family is nice. Im usually running solo when i fly for work. Much more tolerable and not so lonely.

It's worth the trip. Expensive as heck but......I think you'll find that you actually can buy happiness. Although the crowds and lines are always busy, you're going at a good time in regards to fewer people at the parks. Disney far and away offers the cleanest, well run, top-notch service parks in the world. Enjoy the trip, savor the memories. Your kids will never forget it.

I'm not sure what you have as far has park passes, park hopper passes, etc. but a little tip is to try and get to the parks early so you can be there when the gates open, leave around 1 or 2 to go back to the hotel for a rest or a swim, and then head back to the parks for evening until close. You'll deal with fewer people in lines in the early am and later pm. Also take advantage of the "Fast Pass" for rides. You'll save lots of time in line with Fast Passes and they're free.
we took the kids when they were little.
it was nice. Flew down first week in November.
we were at an unattached Disney resort they ran shuttles but we rented a car on my dad's advice.
my wife was like why do we need the car we could take the shuttle , right up until we passed a shuttle and a guy was so smashed against the glass door the fat on the back of his arms was pressed flat against the glass. right then the claustrophobic wife said I am so glad we rented a car.

Best of luck to ya. I hate that place but I’ve been there four times. Same reason as you. We were there with the grandkids ( they loved it) last January. Ran the marathon with my daughter. The place was absolutely packed. If ya use fast pass, at least ya can get on 3 rides. There were wait lines of up to four hours!! Who in their right mind would wait for a ride for four hours??? If ya decide to have lunch at a normal lunch time, good luck. Everything is packed and it’s another long line. Then try to get a seat. Ha. Suggest ya go on the Disney app and you can order on your phone. Ya still wait but not as long. Then still good luck with seats. By the way, it was 80 degrees down there in January
Hope your trip goes well. Have a magical time

So far as i expected but weve technically only been here for one meal. 3 hour round trip for dinner with almost no wait. And hotel still hasnt delivered our suitcases. Regret agreeto that one. Much easier just carrying myself and i would have them. Be wearing same clothes tomorrow im afraid.
Im not in to any of this sorta thing. It does nothing for me. Get through it and be done. At least weather is decent.

Half day at Hollywood studios. Ended well, started poorly. Resting now. Running on almost no sleep hence the poor start. Starting to figure out how to manage this mess. Going back for a show and fireworks tonight. Then it's Magic Kingdom in the morning.

My advice, if you have the meal plan, use it to your advantage. We went in November. Best time I could’ve been in a tree stand and I’m stuck looking at a stuffed mouse and his annoying compadres. But, making the best of a bad situation, I got a beer with EVERY meal. And, since the other adults were drinking water, I had them order a beer as well. It made things much easier. In fact, we plan to return in a couple years. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I’d anticipated and I’m glad to have gone. Girls had a blast. That’s the best part of it. Made it worthwhile. Also, check out the Avatar ride in AK. It’ll make the day worthwhile for sure.

When I was a kid the folks got a bug in their butts to move south, Florida was beckoning. Off we went. We bopped around for a few weeks and I loved it....no school, parking the slide-in camper on the beach and fishing day after day. It was near Huck Finny as you could get. The Old man was a heavy equipment operator and he got wind of some big project where they needed crane and dozer guys. We drove off into the oak, pine, and palmetto woods to find the job site and foreman to see if they needed my Pappy's services. It was, literally, out in the middle of nowhere. If memory serves me, the carpenters were on strike and the guy told my Old man to come back later on. We never returned there and ended up down in Broward county. Those out in the middle of nowhere woods are now wall-to-wall people. The project was Disney world, that was sometime in 1967.

Neat. Amazing what you learn listening to folks. We did ok today. Better if i had gotta any decent sleep. Slow start and a bit frustrating. We have some special breakfast in the Magic Kingdom before they open then spend rest of day there. Little girl is loving it so far. Wife seems content. Now if i could only get some real zzz tonight. I hate hotels.

Just made it home. Safe and sound. It's only been 5 total days but looking forward to get the old routine back. More good than bad on the trip. My wife did a really good job on the planning. Found out that im more equipped to keep us on schedule and think through logistics. But she had a really good plan with the Fast Passes, meals, and special reservations. Definitely worked together for best possible outcome within our control. Im definitely not and expert nor do i ever want to be. Weather cooperated, which really helped. I could see not having a good time in oppressive heat or heavy rain.
Of course little girl had a great time even though she can't appreciate what her mom did for her yet. Already wants to go back, but daddy gets to plan the next vacation.
