Let's Talk Predator Calls

Let's Talk Predator Calls - 02/01/20 07:17 PM

Looking at getting more into predator calling. What brand e-callers do you guys like and why? Not sure I need a million different sounds, but would like some variety. I also don't want to break the bank, but am looking for something decent that will last.

Second question...any of you guys using mouth calls anymore for predators? I have a couple and think they are kind of neat to use, but I get the feeling e-callers are what most are using these days.

I hunt750 on cell phone, has like 1000 sounds for a one time fee of 10 dollars, pairing it with a small blue tooth speaker. I think you can get a decent purpose built speaker for around 60 dollars but I dont know much about that, I am just using one I got free from my brother.

A few days ago i posted about a foxpro fx7 from cabelas. 100 sounds included plus 100 of your choice for 200 bucks. Thats what i paid for an entry level foxpro 12 years ago. Im unaware if that was in store only or if it was also online. If paying regular price id look into something else. Foxpro are expensive and overrated i think. Ive had two and neither remote worked past 30 or so yards, if it decided to work at all.

I just bought a cat attack from pcs outdoors for $32 on sale from $99. Only on their website. Only tried it once but going again this afternoon and tomorrow. Caller has 30 calls and is pretty loud. Tried the remote about 50 yards from the caller and it worked at that distance. Calls have really good sound.

I used to hunt with a Minaska that had great sound and a remote controlled decoy as well.

After all that I enjoy mouth calling. I make my own calls, but still love the Dan Thompson calls and the Tweety/Verminator calls. Less time and hassle setting up and more effectiveness when they come in. No coyotes for me here but red fox are my new coyote. Nice to finish them off at 50 yards instead of 100.

For me the coyotes in western Canada were easy in the early season, (mouth calls because e-callers were not legal then), but Nevada coyotes were never easy with an e-caller.

To each their own.

With these its really easyl I paid 80 bucks for mine and love it. watch jd piatt using one......icotec 300 is what i bought and all i need. watch it to the end. Jd kills many many ohio and indiana coyotes. Watch it to the end where the double comes in. Good guy hunts my area...lives nearby

I have looked at the Icotec 300. It seems like a pretty good value caller.
