Re: Gas price - 02/07/20 05:29 PM

I saw $2.39 to $2.69 for regular yesterday and $2.99 to $3.49 for diesel. The highest prices were in Lebanon, Ohio. The prices are always significantly higher there.

The cheapest prices I know of for fuel, within a few hours, are consistently in Huber Heights and Piqua

Filled up a couple days ago. $2.51 here in PA. Doesn't help that our last governor added 58 cents a gallon tax to it before his term was up.

Just dropped to $2.48 today. If the billionaire governor hadn't slapped us with the extra 19 cents per gallon last summer we'd be looking ok.

Re: Gas price - 02/07/20 08:21 PM

LOL, I am just saying it was at a gas station near where Hippie lives. I noticed several times on previous posts he was posting getting gas for about 10 cents a gallon less than I was so I hit a station near his town. That price is correct. My wife got a dollar per gallon discounted because of buying groceries there.

Danny, the gas price is high even around the big cities in Ontario. They do have better roads than we do in Virginia.

I travel all over Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan each year and the roads are horrible. It always baffles me that the road taxes are so high but the roads are so bad. Not sure where all the money goes, except for the fact that most of it has low population. 90% of the people in Canada live within 100 miles of the US border, so they must be spending all that road tax money in the cities.

If gas taxes are utilized like MN. a good portion goes to public transportation, mostly in the big cities. It's no wonder roads and bridges are in the condition they are in.

In Virginia, we have an annual car tax to fund the local transit system. It pays to drive an old clunker in Virginia because the taxes are lower on older cars.

Yep, and now they are planning to decriminalize riding public transportation without a ticket. No one will ride unless it is free, so it can't possibly support itself. I would like to criminalize the use of gas tax for anything but what it was intended for, road and bridge construction and maintenance.
