Curb weight of my 86, K-20 is 6K lbs. That winch would probably work OK on flat/level ground. Might also consider making a rear trailer hitch mount to pull it BACK out of trouble too.

Thats an ATV winch. And borderline at that. You ‘d want one closer to 10k lbs.

I got a 3000 on my a.t.v. and had it stuck bad in the mud and wished they made bigger one for it. For a small pickup i would go at least a 6000 # and have a snatch block for it too. Before i would spend money on a 2500 # winch, i would just buy a "stuck in a rut " they rated at 3000 # single pull.

To add to what Chad mentioned I'd go with a 9,000 lb winch like what I got for my old Toyota 4 runner it's a work in progress still but it will be done before summer time.
In other words go with a larger size winch than what you think you need..

Just figure the cost of a wrecker if you get stuck someplace VS the price of a winch.

If you watch the Harbor Freight adds you can get a 9000# winch for like $350 or a 12000# for $400. They aren’t Warns but better than a shovel and come along. A snatch block and tree strap are handy also.

I got a 12000 harbor freight with the 2"reciever hitch carriage. throw a battery in the bed, put the winch in the receiver and go! no worries of the wench "salting"up in the winter.plus it can go to multiple vehicles.

Get you a big ugly one. They pull all day and won't ever leave you, but if they do, so what.
Stay away from redheads. They are all crazy. Every last one of them.

Snatch block set up as 2 part line almost doubles the pull. Make sure you have enough cable capacity.

Warn or superwinch are all I'll buy for pulling vehicles anymore.
We broke/wore out cheap ones after a year or so when used weekly pulling a lite car into a trailer. The warns we have in our trailers now are both over 10 years old.

And, always go bigger than you think will do the job. It'll only hurt once this way.

I almost leaned something right there.
Get yourself a 9000# unit and mount it so it goes into a 2” receiver. Get you a 2” receiver front and rear and you should be able to get yourself out of almost any “oh ****”.

I meant mud depth. Stuction pressure is 2 or 3 times vehicle weight if sitting on frame.
