Someone just hit this skunk this afternoon and somehow it ended up in my yard. Haven't seen this fella around though. I think he was eyeballing the chickens.
I had one in my yard this morning like I had never seen. Had a white spot between his ears and eyes and the rest of it was solid black. No other white except what is one it's head.
That's not a civet. You guys are looking at the belly side that makes it look similar to a civet. Can't tell how big he is from the pic, but Jerry is right about the taxi market. Even put up for the auction, it would more than likely bring around 25 bucks. Nice find!
bear tracker,,,your skunk was called a "star" back in the day. they were the best of the best, and brought very good money. they were a real trophy catch.

And in today’s market, almost solid black skunks are the least desirable. How times and trends change.
Actually being as far north as you are I don't believe it is a civit but probably a piebald version of a striped skunk. I average a dozen or so a year in my nuisance trapping business a year. They do give a little break up to a typically boring day. You might be careful if that skunk found it's way into your yard in the afternoon it may have been diseased. In our area distemper has been very prevalent this past year.
I've seen a few striped skunks that look like this hit on the road they are very pretty if it didn't spray I'd say taxidermy market and you could pull the essence. If you knew how I don't
