Who knows their Roku TV?

So if I buy a Roku Smart TV do I also need to buy the Roku stick device or is that incorporated into the TV? This technology today blows my mind.

Well, you can buy the stick and hook it to any tv so if they are advertising it, I would assume that it's already equipped. I would ask at the store to be sure.

If you buy a TV with Roku, there’s no need to buy anything. The Roku devices in the store are to stream with non smart TVs. I have two for my kids, they work well. Also have a Roku TV. There’s little to no difference between the two. Also have a couple other TVs with different streaming platforms, and to me the Roku is easiest to use. Though none are difficult.

I did the Hulu, Sling, Netflix free trial circuit of the providers and most are just the same thing one did have a guide to look through but most are the same same.

M magis has your answer. Been Roku here for a while, tried dish, direct tv, then centurylink prism, they all had the same business plan, once u sign up, we will keep raising your bill. No thanks.

Exactly right. My wife and I didn't feel we needed anything for Christmas, so we bought a 50" TV for ourselves. It has Roku built in. Programming the TV was a chore, though.

if the tv is a roku tv then it is already built in you just put in the wifi password and go.

bought my first ever tv this last year and it was a roku tv , really didn't think we needed more than the 1 tv in the living room but wife convinced me it could be nice to watch our own tv in the bed room and not fight the kids for the one in the living room.

I admit it is nice and it also does spotify and other music services so I use it like a radio but with my play list in the bed room no commercials and only what I want to hear.

mostly use it for netflix but it does hulu and disney pluss also as well as the dvd player and over the air tv

You’ll also need an internet connection depending on the tv you may have to have a router for wireless which in my opinion is the best idea.You might want to look into YouTube tv if you don’t get local channels they have all the locals plus fox for about 50.00 a month

If you're going to stream video. You have to have at least a 7 meg download connection as HD requires about 7 meg. Standard Analog requires 3 to 4 meg. Otherwise you will buffer a lot. If you're tv and router are close and you can hardwire, do it. A hardwired connection is always better than wifi. Get yourself a good router. We offer 100 meg down in our standard package and managed wifi with a gig router here. There are still customers out there with their own routers though and they buy the cheapest thing they can get. If your router can only squeeze out a few meg it doesn't matter how fast your INet speeds are. And if your like most people, there are multiple devices connected to the router all vying for their own space on your connection. So a good router is a must. Then keep the updates current on your router.

I have a cable modem, download speed rated at 100 megs (best actual about 92), NETGEAR N600 WIRELESS DUAL BAND GIGABIT ROUTER (802.11n). One TV is direct wired, 2 TV's are on WIFI as are 2 other PC's. I'm thinking that even if I get a new 4 or 6 band 802.11ac router there would still be trouble viewing multiple TV's with different channels on each at the same time. But my DirecTV bill is way too high.

Don't let it get over complicated. We just use the router Frontier gave us and we can stream 3-4 TVs at once, and our internet isn't all that fast. The odds that you have an issue is very low. Don't go router shopping unless there's actually an issue.

each roku is it's own device you can have a different thing going on each tv

but you run into a limit with your streaming subscription we can have 4 people on netflix at once 5 on Disney plus 5 on spotify.

An N600 isn't oversized, but it is a good middle of the road router. It's more than big enough.
On the router that Frontier gave you, It's probably a gigabit router already. A provider isn't going to get you a low quality router.Frontier is probably doing the updates for you thru their management system.
At 100 meg download service, the only issue you would have is routers or switches. Most quality routers and most switches are gig anymore. Netgear makes a good router. If you find you need another the Nighthawk is one of their best. If your provider has a managed wifi like us, at $10 month(what my company charges) they make sure you have a quality router, keep up on the updates and if anything goes wrong with it, it's their baby.
A 100 meg connection would do 10 tv's on different programs easy as long as router can handle it.

It varies. Usually at least two would be Youtube (kids).

Thanks for the replies. I used to buy components and have assembled a half dozen PC's but I have not kept up with technology and I have no experience with streaming. My internet provider just changed their name from CableOne to Sparklight.

We have 3 roku tvs and can't even use them. The Internet company wants $2400 just to run the lines to our house so we will never get Internet. We found a cord online and can plug our phones into the TV or projector now so we are set. We have antenna and get more channels than I thought we would get. The kids cried for a couple weeks when we moved here. I had a blast as a kid without it.
